Back in 2015, Google introduced a feature to Chrome for Android that allows users to pin website shortcuts to their Home screen. In 2017, Google is going one step further as an upcoming update for the beta version of Chrome for Android will allow users to pin websites to Android’s app drawer as well.

Not all websites can be pinned to the app drawer as Google will be limiting this feature to websites that qualify as a Progressive Web App. However, if a website fulfills the criteria, said websites will be able to gain access to the standard Android notification management controls instead of Chrome’s notification management controls.
For now, the feature will only be made available for Chrome for Android beta. However, Google has expressed interest in making this feature available to all browsers on Android.
