Shiba Inu Mining Risk

Like every new endeavor, when you are starting Shiba Inu mining, you must realize that there’d be risks involved.

Not, just SHIB coins, one must keep in mind that every cryptocurrency is extremely volatile so here is a list of risks you might be facing when mining Shiba Inu:

Crypto mining requires your computer to run nonstop for hours on end which might potentially weaken your it’s internal hardware components. Similarly, while mining SHIB coins your PC hardware will undergo some real wear and tear.

As your computer is required to run for longer hours, you should expect higher electricity bills and would also be required to provide an uninterrupted power supply in case of an electricity cut.

GPUs are in demand by both crypto miners and gamers. Therefore, you might expect a shortage of GPUs in the market. To counter this, Nvidia has put crypto limits on specific graphic cards like RTX 3060 Ti, 3070, and 3080. This however, results in very low mining performance.

Step 1. Get a SHIB address

To mine SHIB, you will first need a Shiba Inu address. If you already have one, keep it somewhere handy as we will be needing it in a while, but if you don’t, you can obtain one using one of the methods below:

Get SHIB address via Coinbase
  1. Sign in (sign up) to your Coinbase account.
  2. Select Trade from the left-hand menu and search for SHIB.
  3. trade
  4. Click on the result when it’s found.
  5. Click on your account’s icon (top right), go to Settings > Crypto addresses.
  6. On this page, you will find your SHIB address, as illustrated in the screenshot.
  7. shib address
Get SHIB address via Kucoin
  1. Sign in (sign up) to Kucoin, then select the Main Account option on top.
  2. kucoin main acc
  3. Search for SHIB, then click the Deposit button next to it.
  4. This is the location of your SHIB address.
  5. kucion desposit button
Get SHIB address via MetaMask

MetaMask is one of the most widely-used cryptocurrency wallets available currently in the market. It is a free and open-source wallet that supports the Ethereum blockchain and all ERC-20 tokens on its network.

MetaMask is also available across different platforms – you can use it as a mobile app or as a browser extension. It lets you create a wallet and get an address. So, the MetaMask wallet is the second way to get a SHIB wallet address. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Download and install the Metamask Chrome Extension.
  2. metamask setting
  3. Once installed, click your profile photo in MetaMask, then go to Settings.
  4. On the next screen, select Networks.
  5. metamask networks
  6. Click the Add Network button and fill in the details as follows: Network Name: Smart Chain New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/ ChainID: 56 Symbol: BNB Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
  7. metamask add network
  8. Save the new network, and you will be redirected back to the main MetaMask screen, where you will see your new BSC wallet.
  9. Copy your wallet address at the top, right under "Account 1".
  10. metamask account name

Step 2. Download and configure XMRIg

You may get the newest version from the XMRig website or the official GitHub source.

Edit pool_mine_example.cmd

Extract the downloaded package, open the pool_mine_example.cmd with your code editor, and look for the section with these codes:

cd %~dp0
xmrig.exe -o rx.unmineable.com:3333 -u SHIB:0xe1b2456a2Ad227b93D7a7421f1E9Cc57908cC37c.wini3#e4xd-wmzl -p x
pause

The Pool URL is found in between -o, and -u. Replace it with the following, depending on where you are currently located:

  • USA: rx-us.unmineable.com:3333.
  • Europe: rx-eu.unmineable.com:3333.
  • Asia: rx-asia.unmineable.com:3333.

Next, you will need to include your SHIB wallet address. Paste your SHIB address after SHIB:, and before .wini3.

For example, if your SHIB address is 0123456789ABCDEFGH, then it would look like this:

SHIB:0123456789ABCDEFGH.wini3#e4xd-wmzl -p x

The following is the general structure of the address:

[COIN]:[Wallet address].[workerID]#[Code to lower mining fee]

The WorkerID is whatever name you want to give each computer the miner is running on so that it can be easily recognized later in the pool metrics. The code after # is essential as it reduces the Mining Fee from 1% to 0.75 percent. You may leave that code and start mining with the e4xd-wmzl code.

Editing config.json

You will also need to configure the pools object in the config.json file. Open the file and look for the section that says the following:

"pools": [
        {
"url": "rx.unmineable.com:3333",
            "user": "SHIB:0xe1b2456a2Ad227b93D7a7421f1E9Cc57908cC37c.wini3#e4xd-wmzl"
}

Replace rx.unmineable.com:3333 with your Pool URL, and 0xe1b2456a2Ad227b93D7a7421f1E9Cc57908cC37c with your SHIB address.

Step 3. Run pool_mine_example.cmd

Run the pool_mine_example.cmd file as an administrator. If everything works fine, you should see something similar to the following screenshot. That means you are now successfully mining SHIB using XMRIg.

This is how the window of the running miner looks like on the CPU.

mining terminal

Step 4. Check your mining stats

When you set up the address inside the XMRig config file, you are also joining Unmineable.com’s pool. Unmineable is a mining pool that lets you to mine with your CPU using RandomX and pays you in whatever cryptocurrency you want.

It informs Unmineable which coin you wanted to be paid in (In our case – SHIB) as well as the address to which they will send the mined coins.

Here’s how to check your mining status:

  1. Go to Unmineable.com and select the RandomX tab.
  2. unmineable randomx
  3. On the area titled “Enter your address to check your stats.”, Enter your SHIB wallet address, then click the green search button.
  4. unmineable check status

You should be able to see how many Shiba Inu coins you’ve earned.

Conclusion

Shiba Inu (SHIB) draws a large audience and reaches a new height in 2021. SHIB fans anticipate it to repeat remarkable price rides, even though it is a volatile asset with large corrections.

Furthermore, SHIB is on its way to becoming a widely recognized payment mechanism. Although the cost of mining Shiba Inu appears to be rather expensive, miners seem to still have optimism since they may join a mining pool.
