If you have data in multiple cloud storage accounts, managing it becomes difficult. You will have to switch between apps and ensure there is no data duplication to effectively use space and search for the right file. If you are dealing with this situation right now, then I have a solution for you.
You can use a cloud storage manager app to manage your favorite cloud storage services in one place. In this post, I will introduce two Android apps, respectively Unclouded and Android File Manager, to manage files inside different cloud storage services without any hassle.
Unclouded is a dedicated cloud manager for Android that has a really sleek design and makes it very easy to manage multiple cloud accounts. Although it supports only the most popular cloud storage services including Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box and MEGA, but it should work for most users.
Free or paid, which one to choose?
Unclouded free version allows you to manage two cloud storage accounts at a time in any of its supported cloud storage services. However, all of its other management features are available in the free version. The paid version offers 3 new capabilities, you can add and manage unlimited accounts, password protect the app, and unlock dark theme.
Most users should have no problem with the 2 accounts limitation, but you can get unlimited account for $0.99. Also, you can get other less important paid features for a full price of $2.49.
- Install the app and launch it.
- You will be asked to sign in with a cloud storage account to get started.
- Once you sign-in, you will see an overview of your cloud storage account.
- Here you will see total free and taken space and a number of files/folders inside the cloud storage.
- If the cloud storage service has connected apps, then you will also see the space taken by each app.
If you tap on the hamburger menu at the top-left corner you will see multiple options to manage your cloud data.
Here’s an explanation of each option:
At the top of the menu, you will see your current account with which you are logged in. You can tap on it to see options to add a new account. Once another account is added, you will have to use this same menu to quickly switch between cloud storage accounts.
As the name suggests, this section allows you to access and manage your data. You will find all your accessible files here, and use grid or list views to quickly skim through them.
There is also a search bar above that shows results as you type, making it fast and easy to look for files. Furthermore, you can use the sort-by button to sort the data as you please. You can see data old to new, large to small, A to Z and vice versa.
This section categorises all your data based on their type. Of course, the categories here depend on your cloud storage service and the data inside. For example, Google drive has separate categories for Google docs and sheets.
Here you can see files based on their last modified time. The time intervals include last hour, last 12 hours, today, this week, this month, this year and so on. You can tap on each time interval to see files modified during that time.
If you are syncing data from multiple devices, then it isn’t uncommon to have duplicate files. This section will show you all the files are duplicates. You can easily delete the duplicates, either individually or in bulk.
This section lists all the data in your cloud storage’s trash section. This includes trash data of individual apps as well. You can both restore or delete trash data from here.
2. Android File Manager
Many third-party Android file managers come with support for cloud services. You can use such a file manager to manage your files inside both the phone’s storage as well as the cloud storage.
For this purpose, ASUS File Manager is a good option as it has a very intuitive interface that makes it easy to manage files in multiple cloud storage services. Although you can also use your favorite Android file manager if it has support for cloud storage.
You can add unlimited cloud storage accounts in ASUS File Manager and manage them all together. However, the official cloud storage app may be required to be installed in your phone before managing the data.
Using ASUS File Manager
Using ASUS File Manager is really simple:
- Install and launch the app and you will see all your data stored in phone memory.
- Tap on the hamburger menu icon on the top left side and then tap on Add cloud storage button at the end.
- You can choose from 5 supported cloud storage services, including Google Drive, Dropbox, ASUS WebStorage, OneDrive, and Yandex.
- Enter the required details and your cloud storage account will be connected.
You can repeat the process to add as many cloud storage account you like and they all will be shown in the hamburger menu.
Unfortunately, ASUS File Manager or any other file manager will not offer you as much data management features as Unclouded. It will show you all your data in the main interface and you can scroll through to find the required files. You can also sort data and use the search bar to quick access the files. You don’t have many options apart from these.
You can quickly switch between accounts by tapping on the hamburger menu and selecting the required account. One thing I really like about the file manager that it allows you to move or copy data between different cloud storage accounts. A very handy feature for moving data and managing space.
Unclouded is definitely the best option for managing your files in different cloud storage accounts. However, its two-accounts limit may not suit people who are looking to manage more cloud storage accounts and are not ready to pay.
If you are not a fan of the fancy stuff then ASUS File Manager is a much better option in my opinion. It lets you quickly switch between unlimited cloud storage accounts and lets you move data between them.
