Recover Deleted Files on Mac with iBoysoft Data Recovery

It is a regular practice to delete unwanted files and folders on your Mac by moving them to the Trash. If the need arises, you can always recover the files sent to the Trash.

However, at times, deliberately or accidentally, we delete some files permanently from the Trash or the system folders, and those files can never be retrieved.

Now, that happened to me once, when I permanently deleted certain files from the Trash of my Mac to free up some storage space. But after a few days, I found myself in a situation where I needed one of the files that I had deleted permanently from my computer.

So I looked far and wide across the internet for the best and most reliable tool to help me recover permanently deleted files, and I found one – iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac.

iBoysoft

If you’re facing a similar situation, this post will help you out. I’ll walk you through the features of the iBoysoft data recovery tool and the process to retrieve permanently deleted files on your Mac using the same.

Let’s get right to it.

Using iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery

During my research on a good data recovery tool for Mac, I came across many tools that offered different features. Some were free but with limited features; others had many advanced options but required a paid subscription. But only a handful was free and offered all the features that I needed, and iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery was one of them.

This app offers both a Mac version and a Windows version to users (but I’m only going to talk about its data recovery features for Mac from my own experience). As the name suggests, iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is a Mac data recovery program capable of retrieving your deleted or lost files from the impossible nooks and corners of your Mac.

From documents and project files to images and audio/video data, you can recover any file through its advanced data recovery algorithms and a good success rate.

Through my experience of recovering permanently deleted files on Mac, here’s a short overview of the features that I came across within the iBoysoft Mac data recovery software:

Ease of use

Data recovery is already a daunting task, and many recovery software I use makes it even more complicated by offering a complex process and high-tech dashboard look. This is not the case with iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery because I found the tool has an intuitive interface and a simple 3-click process.

What I liked about the UI is that they’ve designed it quite similar to the interface of Finder in Mac – something the Mac users already have a good affinity with.

Data recovery from internal/external storage

Apart from the internal storage of Mac, we use many other storage devices like external HDDs, SSDs, SD cards, or USB flash drives. It is worth mentioning that iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery equips you to recover your data from internal storage and all the aforementioned external storage devices.

If you are having an ‘unreadable external disk’ issue for a device that you connected with your Mac, you can use the tool to recover any file from it as well. Plus, if you, for any reason, formatted your external storage device, like an SD card or USB drive, you can retrieve files using the software.

File retrieval from unbootable Mac

So in an unfortunate event, your Mac crashes and fails to boot. Well, usually, data recovery tools try to salvage your data on an unbootable Mac by creating a bootable disk on another Mac and retrieving your data there.

What iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery does is it works right on your crashed macOS in the recovery mode and retrieves your files from an unbootable Mac with complete success.

File recovery from Disk Image

To backup data in Mac or free up some storage space, you sometimes create a DMG (disk image) file that compresses the entire content of a disk or a disk partition. But many data recovery tools missout DMG files when recovering data from your Mac.

What I experience through iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery is that it doesn’t leave out any file format, and that includes the DMG files as well. You can use this tool to search for deleted or lost data and then recover it from downloaded or user-created DMG files, which is a great relief.

APFS data recovery

APFS or Apple File System is the default file system in macOS 10.13 or later that supports encryption, snapshots, space sharing, and improved file system fundamentals etc. When your entire macOS or some part of it gets corrupted, you are not able to access data, that includes the APFS files as well.

iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac is a versatile APFS data recovery tool that enables you to recover data from an APFS drive or partition on your Mac. Also, it can search for lost APFS partitions and help you get lost data back from them.

Moreover, this Mac data recovery utility is available for Mac data recovery from Mac hard drives that are encrypted by Secure Enclave technology of T2 security chip or Apple Silicon, FileVault 2, and APFS encryption.

Supported formats, devices, and OSs

As I mentioned earlier in the post, you can recover almost any type of file or any data using the iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery tool. What I’d like to add is that it also supports HFS+, exFAT, and FAT32 formatted drives and multiple Mac operating systems, including Mac OS X 10.11, macOS 10.12, 10.13, 10.14, 10.15, 11, 12, and 13 Beta.

Moreover, you can recover data from any disk-based storage devices, such as HDDs/SSDs developed by HP, Samsung, Seagate, Toshiba, WD, Intel®, etc., digital cameras developed by Samsung, Sony, GoPro, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, etc., or SD cards developed by SanDisk, Transcend, Toshiba, Integral, Kingston, etc.

Recover permanently deleted files on Mac

Now to talk about the real business, i.e., the process of recovering permanently deleted files on your Mac. As I’ve mentioned before, the process is pretty simple, and anyone can do it – all you need to know is how to recover. Here’s how to do it:

Note: Download and launch the iBoysoft data recovery software on your Mac. You’ll be asked for some permissions to access data and allow the app to access the storage devices.
  1. Launch the app and from the left panel, select Storage Device and you’ll see an overview of your storage devices and data stats. Select the storage device to recover the deleted files from and click Search for Lost Data at the bottom right.

Pros and Cons of iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac

The best decision is an informed decision. So, to help you make an informed decision, I am going to highlight some of the pros and cons of iBoysoft Data Recovery for Mac that I found during my experience with the tool.

PROS

  • Recover permanently deleted files in any format or from any of the internal or external storage devices.
  • Deep scan features that do some heavy-duty data restoration on your Mac to reach the places where most tools can’t.
  • A simple and easy to use interface that works for anyone.
  • Recover files from all kinds of corrupted, unmountable, or formatted storage devices.

CONS

  • Scanning process is slower than what I expected, and the progress bar stops at a certain percentage for a long time.
  • Though the tool is free with many of the recovery features, the free option can only restore up to 1GB of data. If you want to recover greater amounts of data, you’ll need to subscribe to a paid plan.
  • You can preview the scanned files, but preview is not available for all types of files, which makes it difficult to see what you want to recover. Plus, a preview is not available during scanning.

To sum it up

Data loss is one of the biggest tragedies for any computer user. But knowing that there are ways out of it gives you much solace.

I have poured out everything about my experience with data recovery on Mac through the iBoysoft Mac Data Recovery app and other features you can avail of this tool.
