If 2012 is really the end of the world, SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) could be the first sign. Though it is constructed in the way that it might protect the intellectual property from the possible copyright infringement, it is so powerful that the big industry players could even take down a website first without any investigation, and this is called Domain Name System Blocking. Basically it has no much difference from the censorship seen in certain countries.

Over the past 2-3 years we’ve seen a tremendous growth in browser and OS support for mobile websites. Most notably Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms come to mind. But others such as PalmOS and Blackberry are still in the mix. Up until recently it was very difficult to match a single mobile theme into all of these platforms.

JavaScript was a start, but there hasn’t been any truly unified library until now. jQuery Mobile takes all the best features of jQuery and ports them over to a mobile-based web source. The library is more like a framework which includes animations, transition effects, and automatic CSS styles for basic HTML elements. In this guide I hope to introduce the platform in a way that you can feel comfortable designing your own jQuery mobile apps.

Designing a logo for your brand is not only a smart move, it’s an upfront investment with a lasting impact on the bottom line. With logos, though, it’s important to get it right. It’s such an integral part of your brand that it must hit the right audience demographic, communicate simply and instantly, and be usable on any scale from a coffee cup to a billboard. I’ve seen a million logos, OK maybe not a whole million, come across my desk, and I can still point to the ones I think work and the ones that don’t.

How do I know? I see the successful ones over and over again, maybe with a slight tweak here and there, but I know from the consistency that the company has cut through the current information overload and hit upon a strong, clear communication tool.
Here’s the question business owners most often ask themselves: What does a well-designed logo, and the money I’ve spent on it, do for my bottom line? Here are the answers, after jump.

There has been an ongoing debate about whether bloggers could be considered as journalists in this digital and information age. Modern technology has enabled anyone with easy access to internet and the most basic blogging knowledge to share with the world whatever information they wish to. The result is that there is a large inconsistency in the standards of blog posts, especially those written by bloggers with no journalistic background.

Indeed, having the flexibility to present our arguments and opinions in whichever way we prefer is a good thing. Nevertheless, having some form of structure by consulting the fundamentals of journalism is also beneficial to both us and our readers. For one, it makes our blog seem more professional and reliable, such that readers can take our words more seriously. Another is that we can appreciate how our words will be broadcasted to a mass audience and take greater responsibility in how and what we post.
Here are a few things we can take home from journalism, after jump.

Following the release of Windows 8 Developer Preview, many sites have done reviews on what the next Windows system will be like. The reviews are mostly positive, with some hailing Windows 8 as the next revolution in the technology of computer operating systems (OS). Such may well be the ambition of Microsoft, and it shouldn’t surprise time it comes at a time when Apple’s share of the OS market is rising and pitting fiercely against them.

If there’s one thing great about competition, it is that it brings out the best product between companies. I’ve read up some of the features that Microsoft’s Windows 8 will be offering, and am now both intrigued and excited for what’s to come in the full version. It will even come with a new and unique kind of user interface (UI) known as the Metro.
Here are brief descriptions to some top features you would be keen to know about:

It seems fitting that the Internet itself is rife with speculation about what form the successor to Web 2.0 will take. Are we nearing a new age for the Internet? Will Web 3.0 be a revolutionary shift and what exactly will its central features be?

Myriad questions require answers, but for the moment web users can only rely on extremely educated guesses as to what Web 3.0 will ultimately be like. Before considering ideas about what advances will be made by Web 3.0, it’s useful to first remind ourselves of some of the core characteristics of Web 2.0.

3D Street Art is created by painting, chalking or drawing a horizontal surface from one perspective. When the completed picture is viewed through a camera from the same position and perspective the picture appears to look three dimensional. It’s an art from that’s been documented since fifteenth century Italian painters used the effect to decorate the villa’s of the wealthy.

Since then 3D Street Art has been used in the last ten years not only to entertain and beguile but has also become popular with brands to advertise their products. As the demand has increased so has the ambition of the artists to create ever more creative and spectacular pieces including designs that incorporate both horizontal and vertical surfaces and in 2011 the pictures became even bigger and bolder.
3D Street Art went big in 2011, big enough to break several World records. As we continue to be astounded and impressed by this incredible anamorphic art I have created a top ten list of the most spectacular, creative and popular pieces of 3D street art created by artists around the world during 2011. I’ve based the selections on creativity, scale and ambition and attention gathered. I look forward to your comments on which are your favorite piece’s of 2011.

As owners and strategist of a website, we are always looking for more ways to increase the traffic and number of visitors to our website. While most of the techniques – social network promotions, advertising, word of mouth, etc – get you traffic from the outside, there are a few things you can do from the inside to increase your website’s overall traffic.

Increasing pageviews from inside the site is cheap, but requires a bit of a technique. When a visitor lands on one of your pages, find ways to encourage them to read the next page, and another page, and another and so on. One of the most common ways to do this is by using social toolbars.
The "Related link section" is yet another common practice used to encourage visitors to stay longer on our website by promoting and recommending them to read another article similar to what they are currently reading. If you are a WordPress user, you know that this can be done easily with plugins, or without plugins.
This method is a crowd favorite, and we now see many emerging third party services providing similar services – good news for non-Wordpress sites. In today’s post we take a detailed look into three of the most popular third-party related link services on the Internet.
Full list after the jump.
