Restart in Recovery Mode<\/h3>\n<p>Restart your Mac and immediately hold down <span class=\"key\">Command<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">R<\/span> until you see the Apple logo. Erase Your Disk<\/h3>\n<p>Next, you will need to erase your disk. This will remove all files, applications, and settings on your Mac. Once again, make sure you\u2019ve backed up all the necessary items before you proceed with this step.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201cDisk Utility\u201d and click on \u201cContinue\u201d.<\/li>\n<p>  <span class=\"su-lightbox\" data-mfp-src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/original\/select-disk-utility.jpg?2\" data-mfp-type=\"image\" data-mobile=\"yes\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/select-disk-utility.jpg?2\" alt=\"Disk Utility\" width=\"1500\" height=\"763\"><\/span><\/p>\n<li>In the sidebar, select your startup disk, which is usually named \u201cMacintosh HD\u201d by default. If your disk is divided into volumes, choose the volume you wish to erase. Unless you\u2019ve renamed it, this will also be called \u201cMacintosh HD\u201d.<\/li>\n<p>  <span class=\"su-lightbox\" data-mfp-src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/original\/select-startup-disk.jpg?2\" data-mfp-type=\"image\" data-mobile=\"yes\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/select-startup-disk.jpg?2\" alt=\"select startup disk\" width=\"1500\" height=\"893\"><\/span><\/p>\n<li>Click on the \u201cErase\u201d button.<\/li>\n<p>  <span class=\"su-lightbox\" data-mfp-src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/original\/click-erase.jpg?2\" data-mfp-type=\"image\" data-mobile=\"yes\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/click-erase.jpg?2\" alt=\"erase disk\" width=\"1500\" height=\"909\"><\/span><\/p>\n<li>You\u2019ll be prompted to enter a name for the disk or volume. You can name it \u201cMacintosh HD\u201d or any other name of your choice.<\/li>\n<li>From the Format menu, select either \u201cAPFS\u201d or \u201cMac OS Extended (Journaled)\u201d to format it as a Mac volume. The Disk Utility will display a compatible format by default.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cErase\u201d again to start erasing your disk or volume. Once the process is complete, exit the Disk Utility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Step 6. Reinstall macOS<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>In the macOS Utilities window, choose \u201cReinstall macOS\u201d, then click on \u201cContinue\u201d.<\/li>\n<p>  <span class=\"su-lightbox\" data-mfp-src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/original\/reinstall-macos.jpg?2\" data-mfp-type=\"image\" data-mobile=\"yes\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wipe-mac-clean\/reinstall-macos.jpg?2\" alt=\"reinstall macOS\" width=\"1500\" height=\"802\"><\/span><\/p>\n<li>Follow the provided instructions to proceed with the macOS reinstallation.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the macOS installation to complete.
