In the Chrome browser, there\u2019s an option to open a new tab in Incognito mode<\/a>. But what if you would want the browser to launch in Incognito every time you launch it?<\/p>\n

We\u2019e previously showed you how to open Brave browser in private mode by default<\/a>. In this post, we are going to explore how to launch Chrome in Incognito mode by default. The steps are a bit different for Windows and Mac users, so follow the instructions of your specific OS.<\/p>\n

Windows Users<\/h2>\n

Step 1<\/h3>\n

First, locate where Google Chrome is stored in your Windows. It should be right inside: Program Files<\/strong> > Google<\/strong> > Chrome<\/strong> > Application<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2<\/h3>\n

Right-click on Chrome, then select \u201cShow more options\u201d.<\/p>\n

Step 3<\/h3>\n

Select \u201cCreate shortcut\u201d, then follow by \u201cYes\u201d to create a Chrome shortcut on your Desktop.<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/h3>\n

Right-click on created Chrome shortcut on your Desktop and select \"Properties\".<\/p>\n

Step 5<\/h3>\n

In the Properties dialogue box, look inside \u201cTarget:\u201d. Go to the end of the line, add a space, follow by \u201c-incognito<\/code>\u201d (without quotes), then hit \u201cOK\u201d.<\/p>\n

Basically, we are replacing the default path:<\/p>\n

\"C:\\Program Files\\Google\\Chrome\\Application\\chrome.exe\"<\/code><\/p>\n

with the following path:<\/p>\n

\"C:\\Program Files\\Google\\Chrome\\Application\\chrome.exe\" -incognito <\/code><\/p>\n

Step 6<\/h3>\n

It should now be done. Double-click the Chrome shortcut, and if it opens up a Chrome browser in Incognito mode, that means the shortcut works.<\/p>\n

Drag the shortcut down to the Taskbar so it opens up an Incognito-mode Chrome every time you click on it.<\/p>\n

Mac Users<\/h2>\n

Step 1<\/h3>\n

Launch Spotlight, search for Script Editor. and launch it.<\/p>\n

Step 2<\/h3>\n

Select \u201cNew Document\u201d and paste the following codes inside.<\/p>\n

do shell script \"open -a \/Applications\/Google\\\\ Chrome.app --args --incognito\"<\/code><\/p>\n

Then save the file by going to File > Save, or hit Command<\/span> + S<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cDesktop\u201d for \u201cWhere:\u201d, \u201cApplication\u201d for \u201cFile Format:\u201d and then hit the \"Save\" button. This will create an executable file that opens up Chrome Browser in Incognito mode.<\/p>\n

Step 3<\/h3>\n

Give the executable file a test. Double-click it, and it should open Chrome in Incognito mode.<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/h3>\n

We are basically done here, but let\u2019s take an extra step to make it a little nicer. Let\u2019s give the executable file a Chrome icon and then add it to the Dock.<\/p>\n

Launch Finder, look for the original Google Chrome app on your Mac, then right-click, and select \u201cGet Info\u201d.<\/p>\n

Next, also \u201cGet Info\u201d on the executable file you just created and the two dialogue boxes side by side.<\/p>\n

Left-click once on the Chrome logo, do a Command<\/span> + C<\/span> to copy the logo, click the executable file\u2019s logo and do a Command<\/span> + V<\/span>. This will give the executable file a nice-looking Chrome logo.<\/p>\n

Finally, add it to your Dock.<\/p>\n
