But there\u2019s good reason to stick to paper when you start prototyping.<\/p>\n<p>Prototyping on paper is a lot more free-form and it gives you room to experiment beyond the limitations of the mouse and keyboard. Only trouble is that the <strong>blank sheet of paper can feel so intimidating<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gridprint.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Gridprint<\/a> is a free set of grid templates you can print and use for traditional prototyping. These grids come in many different styles with <strong>options for 12-col grids, 16-col grids, and even mobile device grids<\/strong> for tablets and smartphones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\"><strong>Read Also:<\/strong> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/wireframing-prototyping-tools\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Useful Wireframing and Prototyping Tools \u2013 Roundup<\/a><\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/gridprint.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/gridprint-free-baseline-grid-templates-for-prototyping-on-paper\/01-gridprint-template-example.jpg\" alt=\"gridprint homepage\" width=\"1000\" height=\"628\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>From the Gridprint homepage, you can browse through all the grids and choose the ones you wanna use.<\/p>\n<p>None are better than others, although some are better-suited for certain projects. For example, if you\u2019re prototyping a mobile app or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/responsive-for-mobile-screens\/\">responsive layout<\/a> then you\u2019ll probably want one of the landscape or portrait device grids.<\/p>\n<p>One thing I don\u2019t like: these grids <strong>aren\u2019t downloadable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Each template includes a \u201cprint\u201d button which you can click to bring up the print menu. This runs through JavaScript which can actually control your browser\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.htmlgoodies.com\/beyond\/javascript\/article.php\/3471121\/Print-a-Web-Page-Using-JavaScript.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">print function<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But this means you need an Internet connection to access these grids. From what I can tell there\u2019s <strong>no way to save them locally and print them in your own time<\/strong>. Kinda feels limiting since the templates are given away for free anyways.<\/p>\n<figure><a href=\"https:\/\/gridprint.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/gridprint-free-baseline-grid-templates-for-prototyping-on-paper\/02-printing-example-gridprint.jpg\" alt=\"gridprint prototyping homepage\" width=\"1000\" height=\"528\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>But with such attention to detail and so many varieties to pick from, I really can\u2019t complain.<\/p>\n<p>This prototyping <strong>template set is great for any UI designer<\/strong> and it\u2019s a much better way to start a new project than a blank page.<\/p>\n<p>Take a look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/gridprint.in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Gridprint website<\/a> to learn more.
