Fortunately, it does provide a tool to view and examine your data stored on its servers.<\/p>\n<p>The tool, known as \u201c<strong>My Activity<\/strong>\u201c, lets you check all your online activities stored with Google. It comes handy when you wish to <strong>examine your data<\/strong>, let\u2019s say if you want to find the searches you did last month before your kid\u2019s birthday or concrete your plan of deleting all your data stored with Google.<\/p>\n<p>You can check your activity data by following the below steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/myactivity\">My Activity<\/a><\/strong>\u201d in a browser, and log in if not already.<\/li>\n<li>You can <strong>explore this page<\/strong> to view your data: check out the \u201c<strong>Bundle view<\/strong>\u201d (on the left) to view your history in a bundle or use the option \u201c<strong>Item view<\/strong>\u201d to check your history product-wise \u2014 say to view only web searches.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/check-activity-data-google.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"631\" alt=\"Check your activity data on Google\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Download all data from Google<\/h3>\n<p>Though you can check your data using My Activity yet it is hard to examine the data using it, thanks to the overwhelming amount of data collected by Google.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, Google provides another tool that lets you download the data and analyze it locally on your computer, which in my experience, is the better way to <strong>examine the humongous amount of your data<\/strong> stored by Google.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the below steps to download your data from Google:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/takeout.google.com\/settings\/takeout\">Download your data<\/a><\/strong>\u201d in your browser.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Select the services<\/strong> you need the activity data of, and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/download-data-google.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" alt=\"Download all data from Google\"><\/figure>\n<li>Configure the \u201cFile type\u201d and \u201cArchive size (max)\u201d per your convenience, and choose \u201c<strong>Send download link via email<\/strong>\u201d as the \u201c<strong>Delivery method<\/strong>\u201c, then click the \u201c<strong>CREATE ARCHIVE<\/strong>\u201d button. You can choose other delivery methods as well, but they are out of the scope of this tutorial.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/download-data-via-download-link.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" alt=\"Download your data via download link\"><\/figure>\n<li>Finally, <strong>open your inbox<\/strong> and check for the mail from Google. In the email, you will <strong>find a download link<\/strong>, opening which, you will get your data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Delete your data stored with Google<\/h2>\n<h3>Disable ad personalization<\/h3>\n<p>Google is one of the major ad networks that track our online activities for one sole purpose \u2014 show us personalized ads. However, if you are serious about your privacy and <strong>do not wish to see focused ads<\/strong> based on your online activities and interests, then you can follow the below steps to turn it off:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/adssettings.google.com\/authenticated\">Ads Settings<\/a><\/strong>\u201d in your web browser.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Switch off the toggle<\/strong> button shown at the center of the page.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/disable-ad-personalization-google.jpg\" width=\"1157\" height=\"685\" alt=\"Disable ad personalization in Google\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Disable your Google history<\/h3>\n<p>If you do not want to delete your history, but wish to live your digital life without being tracked or watched by Google, then you can simply disable your Google history. Or say you want to delete your history and do not want Google to <strong>follow your activities anymore<\/strong>, then this is your solution.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this trick <strong>saves you time as well<\/strong> \u2014 you do not need to delete your history every now and then. Nevertheless, you can follow the given steps to ask Google not to monitor your online activities, i.e., <strong>pause your history<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Navigate to \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/myactivity\">My Activity<\/a><\/strong>\u201d on a web browser, and log in if required.<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201c<strong>Activity controls<\/strong>\u201d from the left pane<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/disable-google-history.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"473\" alt=\"Disable your Google history\"><\/figure>\n<li>Select the <strong>type of activity or product<\/strong> you want to pause tracking or recording for, and <strong>click its associated toggle<\/strong> button. For example, I am going to pause \u201cLocation History\u201d (as visible in screenshots below).<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/disable-location-history.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"515\" alt=\"Disable location history\"><\/figure>\n<li>You will see a dialog window asking you to pause the activity history, click on the <strong>PAUSE<\/strong> button, and confirm your action if asked.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/pause-location-history.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"623\" alt=\"Pause location history\"><\/figure>\n<li>Finally, <strong>repeat the same process for every activity or product<\/strong> you want to disable the history for. If you repeat the earlier steps for every activity or product on this page, you will pause your entire Google history.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Delete your Google history<\/h3>\n<p>If you wish to <strong>avoid leaving any trace<\/strong> of your activities behind and are ready to <strong>get rid of your complete data<\/strong> stored by Google, then you must delete your entire history. Although it may sound like a huge task, it requires just some minutes actually to do it. Follow the below steps to do it:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201c<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/?continue=https:\/\/myactivity.google.com\/myactivity\">My Activity<\/a><\/strong>\u201d in the browser.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the options icon [<strong>\u22ee<\/strong>] on the top-right and select \u201c<strong>Delete activity by<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/delete-activity-product-google.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"611\" alt=\"Delete activity by time or product in Google\"><\/figure>\n<li>Now, select the period and the product whose history you want to delete. Do note that you can choose \u201c<strong>All time<\/strong>\u201d as the period and \u201c<strong>All products<\/strong>\u201d as the product to remove your entire Google history.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/delete-entire-google-history.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" alt=\"Delete your entire Google history\"><\/figure>\n<li>Click on the <strong>DELETE<\/strong> button, and confirm the deletion if asked.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Delete your linked accounts<\/h3>\n<p>If you wish to vanish from the Internet (although it is almost impossible) by <strong>deleting all your accounts<\/strong>, there is a trick to speed it up if you have logged in or signed up for those accounts using your Google account.<\/p>\n<p>Deseat.me is a tool that can <strong>access the accounts linked to your Google account<\/strong> and delete them almost by itself. It does ask you to select the accounts before removing them, so you can review the accounts and select them individually prior to deleting them. Let\u2019s see how you can use it:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open \u201c<strong><deseat.me>\u201d in a web browser. Press the \u201c<strong>Get started<\/strong>\u201d button in the center, then press \u201c<strong>Sign in with Gmail<\/strong>\u201d to log in using Google.<\/deseat.me><\/strong><\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/download-and-delete-everything-google-knows-about-you\/open-dseat-browser.jpg\" width=\"1200\" height=\"726\" alt=\"Open Dseat.me in a browser\"><\/figure>\n<li>Google will ask for your approval before providing permissions to Deseat. It may happen that some of your <strong>data remains stored temporarily<\/strong>, allowing Google to pick and sync it back to its servers. That is why you must delete them to protect your privacy.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press <span class=\"key\">Ctrl<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">Del<\/span> to <strong>open the clear history dialog<\/strong>. Please note that this shortcut is tested in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge; and may work in most other web browsers as well.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Google Chrome<\/strong> and other Chromium-based browsers, you will see a dialog named \u201c<strong>Clear browsing data<\/strong>\u201c.
