It is being used by many websites today, including YouTube, Google Play Store, and Facebook Android app.<\/p>\n<p>As ideal as it may be, it is still <strong>not supported by many image editors and online submission forms<\/strong>. I personally have to deal with WEBP images often in my work, and so <strong>I have found many ways to save WEBP images to JPG or PNG<\/strong> with each having its own advantage. Edit image URL<\/h2>\n<p>This is probably the best manual method to save WEBP images as PNG or JPG. <strong>WEBP images saved online<\/strong> are available in both WEBP and JPG\/PNG formats, as some of the browsers like <strong>Firefox and Safari don\u2019t support WEBP<\/strong>. So in those browsers, the JPG or PNG image is loaded instead. With a simple URL tweak, you can load the JPG or PNG format instead of the WEBP. Here\u2019s how:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click on the WEBP image and select <strong>Copy image address<\/strong> from the menu<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/copy-image-address.jpg\" alt=\"Copy image address\" width=\"800\" height=\"442\"><\/figure>\n<li>Now <strong>paste this address in a new tab and remove the last 3 characters<\/strong> from the URL. Therefore, remove <code>-rw<\/code> at the end of the URL. When you\u2019ll hit enter the image will be loaded in JPG\/PNG format.<\/li>\n<li>You can then right-click on the image and select <strong>Save image as<\/strong> to save the image.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/save-image-as.jpg\" alt=\"Save image as\" width=\"800\" height=\"479\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>2. Use \"Save Image As PNG\" Chrome extension<\/h2>\n<p>On Google Chrome, you can use a handy extension called <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/save-image-as-png\/nkokmeaibnajheohncaamjggkanfbphi?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Save Image As PNG<\/a> that adds an option in the context menu to <strong>download WEBP images as PNG<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Opera users can also use this extension by installing the <a href=\"https:\/\/addons.opera.com\/en\/extensions\/details\/install-chrome-extensions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Download Chrome Extension<\/a>. This extension will allow you to <strong>install most Chrome extensions in Opera<\/strong>, including Save Image As PNG.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Install<\/strong> the Save Image As PNG extension from Google Play Store.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the WEBP image and select the new option <strong>Save Image As PNG. <\/strong>That\u2019s it, now you can save the image in PNG format.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/save%20images-as-png.jpg\" alt=\"Save Image As PNG\" width=\"800\" height=\"393\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Unfortunately, this extension will <strong>only let you save images in PNG format<\/strong>. If you want to save in JPG format, you\u2019ll have to <strong>convert the PNG format to JPG format<\/strong> using an image converter or use a different method in this list.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Use an unsupported browser<\/h2>\n<p>Currently, WEBP format is <strong>only supported by Google Chrome and Opera<\/strong>. And as I said before, on websites both the WEBP and JPG\/PNG formats are uploaded for an image to ensure all the browsers can open it. You can simply <strong>use an unsupported browser to load the image<\/strong> and it will be loaded in JPG or PNG format.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/save-image-as-firefox.jpg\" alt=\"use an unsupported browser\" width=\"800\" height=\"527\"><\/figure>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/save-jpg-image.jpg\" alt=\"loaded in JPG or PNG format\" width=\"800\" height=\"493\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can use any browser you like, including Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. Save the image as you normally do and you will see it will be in JPG or PNG format.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Spoof user agent<\/h2>\n<p>Following up to the above method, you <strong>don\u2019t necessarily have to switch browsers<\/strong> to download WEBP images in JPG\/PNG format. You can simply <strong>spoof user agent of your Chrome or Opera browser<\/strong> so the website will think you are browsing from an unsupported browser and load JPG or PNG image instead of WEBP.<\/p>\n<p>For this purpose, I\u2019ll recommend you to use the extension <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/user-agent-switcher-for-c\/djflhoibgkdhkhhcedjiklpkjnoahfmg\/related\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">User-Agent Switcher for Chrome<\/a> as it\u2019s quick and easy.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Install<\/strong> the extension and <strong>click on its icon<\/strong> in the address bar.<\/li>\n<li>You\u2019ll see a list of supported user agents. Select any unsupported browser such as Safari or Firefox.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/spoof-user-agent.jpg\" alt=\"User-Agent Switcher for Chrome\" width=\"800\" height=\"432\"><\/figure>\n<li>Now <strong>refresh the page with the WEBP image<\/strong> and it will load in JPG\/PNG format. You can then download it using the standard <strong>Save image as<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>5. Use an online image converter<\/h2>\n<p>In case you already have WEBP images on your PC, you can convert them in JPG or PNG format as well. This will also be useful if you <strong>don\u2019t want to follow extra steps in the above methods<\/strong>, but instead download all the WEBP images and then convert in bulk.<\/p>\n<p>For quick conversions without any need of an extra software, an <strong>online converter is a good option<\/strong>. For that, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zamzar.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zamzar<\/a> is a reliable image converter that supports WEBP conversion and is free to use. However, you can only convert 10 images concurrently.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On Zamzar website, click on <strong>Choose Files<\/strong> in <strong>Step 1<\/strong> and select up to 10 WEBP images.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/zamzar-select-files.jpg\" alt=\"Choose Files\" width=\"800\" height=\"328\"><\/figure>\n<li>Select JPG or PNG from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/zamzar-select-format.jpg\" alt=\"JPG or PNG from the drop-down menu\" width=\"800\" height=\"361\"><\/figure>\n<li>Now provide your email address and click on <strong>Convert<\/strong> to finish the process.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/zamzar-convert-images.jpg\" alt=\"Convert images\" width=\"800\" height=\"330\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The images will upload and the <strong>converted images will be sent to you via email<\/strong>. You can repeat the process to convert as many images as you like. If Zamzar doesn\u2019t interest you, then you can also use <a href=\"https:\/\/cloudconvert.com\/webp-to-jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cloudconvert<\/a>. It <strong>offers fast on-site conversion<\/strong>, but it\u2019s only limited to 25 conversions\/day for free (registered users).<\/p>\n<h2>6. Use a desktop image converter<\/h2>\n<p>If an online conversion isn\u2019t your thing, then a <strong>desktop image converter app would be a great solution<\/strong>. Although there are many, but I personally like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xnview.com\/en\/xnconvert\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">XnConverter<\/a> as it is completely free and comes with a plethora of features.<\/p>\n<p>XnConverter is available for Windows, macOS and Linux, and lets you <strong>convert unlimited images in bulk<\/strong>. Let\u2019s see how you can use it to convert WEBP images to JPG or PNG:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xnview.com\/en\/xnconvert\/#downloads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download and install XnConverter<\/a> and launch it.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Input<\/strong> tab, click on <strong>Add files<\/strong> and select as many images as you like.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/xnconverter-add-files.jpg\" alt=\"Add files\" width=\"800\" height=\"507\"><\/figure>\n<li>Move to <strong>Output<\/strong> tab and you will see dozens of options to tweak. Although, you can tweak as you prefer, but just selecting your desired output format (JPG\/PNG) should be enough as well. You can also click on <strong>Settings<\/strong> below the format to further adjust output quality.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/xnconverter-convert-images.jpg\" alt=\"XnConverter Convert images\" width=\"800\" height=\"507\"><\/figure>\n<li>Now click on <strong>Convert<\/strong> and all the images will be converted and saved in the specified location.<\/li>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/save-webp-images-as-jpg-or-png\/xnconverter-converted-images.jpg\" alt=\"Converted Images\" width=\"800\" height=\"267\"><\/figure>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Summary<\/h2>\n<p>All of the above methods will help your save WEBP images in JPG or PNG format without any problem. For quick downloads, I prefer using <strong>Save Image As PNG Chrome extension in my Opera browser<\/strong>.
