It\u2019s amazing to see how far the web has come with dynamic elements<\/strong> such as in-browser SVGs<\/a><\/strong>. You can design everything from custom animations<\/strong> to HTML5 games<\/a><\/strong> with the right libraries.<\/p>\n

One of the newest libraries worth testing is Rough.js<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s a free graphics generation script<\/strong> currently in beta that works on canvas and SVG elements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You can build custom icons, bar graphs, pretty much anything you want all in code. And, the final result takes on a gorgeous hand-drawn feeling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As of this writing, Rough.js is still in v0.1 beta, so it may not be ready for a live production website<\/strong>. But it\u2019s a proof that web standards are progressing fast<\/strong> and we\u2019re entering an age where this kind of stuff is possible.<\/p>\n

Take for example this progress bar<\/a><\/strong> generated through Rough.js. If you click the \u201cStart\u201d button you\u2019ll notice it runs a custom animation<\/strong> that really looks hand-drawn<\/strong>. It\u2019s using SVG lines with predefined patterns<\/strong> to create a wobbly effect that looks truly natural.<\/p>\n

On the main GitHub page<\/a>, you\u2019ll find a section listing many examples<\/a> of Rough.js in action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All of these come with code samples<\/strong> and should be pretty easy to rework for any website<\/strong>. All you need is the Rough.js script file and some patience to mess with the JavaScript.<\/p>\n

Pretty simple once you understand the code but probably not the most intuitive script for beginners.<\/p>\n
