In this virtual partition, you can <strong>save files to encrypt them on-the-fly<\/strong>. You can mount it using steps given below and start securing your confidential data using this volume.<\/p>\n<h2>Create a hidden encrypted container<\/h2>\n<p>A hidden volume is a volume created inside an existing encrypted volume or container. This hidden volume is <strong>untraceable from outside<\/strong> and is protected <strong>using a different password<\/strong>. Though VeraCrypt will encrypt your drive with its full data, yet people may recover some unencrypted data using modern technologies if you don\u2019t select a wipe mode, so choose any option but none.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/veracrypt-encryption-tool\/wipe-mode.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"398\" alt=\"Wipe mode\"><\/figure>\n<p>Well done, you\u2019ve successfully encrypted the partition. Now you can mount it to store and encrypt your data on automatic basis.<\/p>\n<h2>Encrypt a system\/OS partition<\/h2>\n<p>In this encryption scheme, a <strong>password is needed to start or boot up your PC<\/strong>. VeraCrypt currently does not support encrypting a system partition residing on a dynamic disk.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re unsure, press <span class=\"key\">Win<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">X<\/span> choose <strong>Disk Management <\/strong> and check what\u2019s written under <strong>Disk 0<\/strong>. You\u2019re good to proceed if it\u2019s <strong>Basic<\/strong> there.<\/p>\n<p>Please start with the system encryption as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open VeraCrypt, click on <strong>System<\/strong> menu and choose <strong>Encrypt System Partition\/Drive<\/strong>.\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/veracrypt-encryption-tool\/encrypt-system-partition.jpg\" width=\"572\" height=\"490\" alt=\"Encrypt system partition\"><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select the option <strong>Encrypt the Windows system partition<\/strong> and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/veracrypt-encryption-tool\/area-to-encrypt.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"398\" alt=\"Area to encrypt\"><\/figure>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select the option <strong>Single-boot<\/strong> if you have just one OS in your system.
