All of its functionality can be <strong>replaced by a more decent bluetooth speaker<\/strong>, and you wouldn\u2019t have to spend as much as the NVX costs.<\/p>\n<h2>2. USB Pet Rock \u2013 Because why not?<\/h2>\n<p>An <strong>upgrade to the original Pet Rock<\/strong>, the USB upgrade is now smarter. You can simply plug the USB cable into a free port, and let the USB Pet Rock do its magic, and unlike other pets, it <strong>doesn\u2019t make noises, doesn\u2019t poop on your sofa<\/strong>, and isn\u2019t needy as hell.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/usb-pet-rock.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"USB Pet Rock\" width=\"700\" height=\"517\"><\/figure>\n<p>In fact, it doesn\u2019t do anything at all. You just put it there among the stack of papers, <strong>introduce it as your pet and tell stories about it<\/strong>. You will love this piece of rock like Patrick Star ever did.<\/p>\n<p>And because it doesn\u2019t do anything, it\u2019s <strong>compatible with any operating system<\/strong>, and spec of computer, and any powerbank. Sadly, like your iPhone7, <strong>it doesn\u2019t have a 3.5mm jack<\/strong>, so suck it Apple!<\/p>\n<h2>3. Ringzero Logbar \u2013 A Kickastarter sad story<\/h2>\n<p>The Ringzero Logbar was <strong>dubbed with the CES Innovation award back in 2015<\/strong>. What does it do? Well, it\u2019s mainly an input device used to <strong>control presentations and basic commands using gestures in the air<\/strong>. It can be used on almost all devices and boasts a multitude of actions that can be manipulated <strong>using gestures in the air<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/ring.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Ringzero Logbar\" width=\"700\" height=\"239\"><\/figure>\n<p>I mean it\u2019s great for presenting, but aside from that? <strong>It\u2019s actually a weird device<\/strong>. Imagine coming across a person who\u2019s moving his fingers in the air drawing weird squiggly symbols. <strong>You\u2019d immediately freak<\/strong> as if he is some kind of wizard.<\/p>\n<p>Plus it has some serious issues\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-19by6\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nBUWxROnqwA\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>4. Air-Conditioned Shoes \u2013 My favorite<\/h2>\n<p>These Air-conditioned shoes promise a <strong>refreshing comfort during the summer<\/strong>. They are lightweight and popular, <strong>selling 6.7 million pairs<\/strong> between 2003 to 2016. (Wow!) It has features like moisture-permeable outsoles, mesh insoles laced with EVA, <strong>deodorizing and antimicrobial elements<\/strong>. It also has a shock absorption system all within this classy natural leather look.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/shoes.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Air-conditioned shoes\" width=\"700\" height=\"642\"><\/figure>\n<p>Sounds dope, but <strong>think of how ridiculous this is<\/strong>. Right?<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t <strong>blow anyone away with every step you take<\/strong>, then I don\u2019t know what\u2019s wrong with you.<\/p>\n<p>PS: It also comes in different designs, and a sandal model too, if you\u2019re into those.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Smart water fountain for your cat \u2013 who will most likely just ignore it<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiegogo.com\/projects\/pura-a-smart-water-fountain-for-cats#\/\">Pura<\/a> is a <strong>smart water fountain for your pet cat<\/strong>. It\u2019s beautifully crafted and ergonomically designed to fit your cat\u2019s daily hydration needs. You can <strong>keep tabs on how much your cat is drinking<\/strong>, and make sure that your little furball gets what he deserves.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/cat.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Smart water fountain for your cat\" width=\"700\" height=\"387\"><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s a totally great idea, <strong>except cats are unpredictable<\/strong>. You\u2019d probably regret buying one after you see your cat running for the box instead of this <strong>expensive piece of hardware<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Smart wine bottle<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiegogo.com\/projects\/kuvee-the-smart-wine-bottle-that-keeps-wine-fresh#\/\">Kuvee<\/a> is a smart wine bottle that <strong>makes sure your wine doesn\u2019t get bad<\/strong> due to oxygen. What it does is it seals the bottle so you can get fresh wine when you need it. It\u2019s also smart in a sense that <strong>it lets you know what wine you\u2019re tasting<\/strong>, and you can even order using the bottle.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/wine.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Smart wine bottle\" width=\"700\" height=\"745\"><\/figure>\n<p>It <strong>almost didn\u2019t make this list<\/strong> but I thought long and hard and realized that it\u2019s something that I\u2019ll actually want to have while working that knows how to close itself off and keep its content fresh, right? But then it dawned on me that, well, <strong>I have hands and the bottle has a label<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>7. Belty, the smart belt<\/h2>\n<p>Another object we use on a daily basis that <strong>received the \u2018smart\u2019 upgrade<\/strong>, this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wearbelty.com\/\">smart belt<\/a> claims to be the only intuitive and autonomous wearable that uses AI in <strong>making you healthier<\/strong>. The website says this product can increase energy levels, improve wellness and ensure you <strong>don\u2019t get a ticket from the fashion police<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/belt.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Belty\" width=\"700\" height=\"310\"><\/figure>\n<p>It also <strong>helps you be better when doing simple tasks<\/strong> like walking, climbing stairs, and simply sitting idly. It can even \u201ctalk\u201d to you as it sends you, (possibly NSFW) vibrations that will <strong>help you act suitably in certain circumstances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This smells gimmick from the get go. A belt that <strong>sends vibrations to your waist<\/strong> to remind you to drink water? Personally, that sounds like a redundant wearable to me. If you <strong>have a smartwatch, you can get more functionality<\/strong>, with less gimmicks.<\/p>\n<h2>8. Anti-radiation underwear \u2013 for when the fallout happens<\/h2>\n<p>If you are one of <strong>those ultra-paranoid people<\/strong> and would want to protect your sperm or egg cells while removing all the unpleasant odor in your underwear, then this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/250495183\/silver-anti-radiation-underwear-keep-body-cool-in\/description\">smart underwear<\/a> is for you.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/useless-tech-inventions\/underwear.jpg?newedit\" alt=\"Anti-radiation underwear\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\"><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s an all-in-one garment solution <strong>made from pure silver-coated polyester threads<\/strong> (great for keeping the werewolves and vampires at bay) that claims to <strong>block radiation of cellphones, WiFi Signals, microwaves<\/strong> and more. It also cools your hooha while keeping it clean from bacteria and odor.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>There is <strong>a lot of good technology out there<\/strong>, and these are the examples of tech that look good at first glance, and when you think about it more and more, it becomes a weird, <strong>ridiculous invention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It only proves that you just don\u2019t buy everything you see on kickstarter, or wish for <strong>something that seems to be useful at initial look<\/strong>.
