Use GodMode to control everything<\/h2>\n<p>GodMode is one of the <strong>best kept secrets<\/strong> of Windows 10. It\u2019s nothing but a hidden folder that packs quick access to piles of <strong>customization options and powerful features<\/strong> of Windows 10. Use mouse to resize snapped apps<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>ability to snap windows to either of the four quadrants or the two halves of the screen<\/strong> is by far one of the most useful feature introduced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/windows-8-new-features-you-will-love\/\">Windows 8<\/a>. However, that\u2019s not all when it comes to Windows 10baryou can even <strong>resize them now<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can hover the mouse <strong>pointer over the intersection point<\/strong> of the two snapped app windows to resize them per your choice. It <strong>shows thumbnail views<\/strong> of all the open applications of the current desktop or virtual desktop (find more details about virtual desktops below).<\/p>\n<p>The feature allows you to <strong>manage multiple<\/strong> <strong>apps across desktops and monitors<\/strong>, quickly locate an app\u2019s window quickly and show desktop or minimize all windows. You can access the Task View screen by doing anyone of the given methods:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click <strong>\"Task View\"<\/strong> button on the Taskbar (the button beside the Search bar).<\/li>\n<li>Press the <span class=\"key\">Win<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">Tab<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Swipe three fingers on the trackpad.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/windows-productivity-tips-tricks\/task-view-shows-thumbnails-app-windows.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"338\" alt=\"Task View shows Thumbnails of App Windows\"><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"6\">6. Use Virtual Desktops to group apps<\/h2>\n<p>Windows 10, takings hints from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/most-asked-questions-linux\/\">Linux<\/a> distros, finally brings the virtual desktop feature to help you <strong>organize or group the open applications<\/strong> in your system. Using the same feature, you can group apps into multiple virtual desktops with only one virtual desktop (with all its component app windows) being visible at any single moment of time.<\/p>\n<p>To start with this feature, just follow the below steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Launch the \"Task View\"<\/strong> by pressing its icon in<strong> \"Taskbar\"<\/strong><strong><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>\"New desktop\"<\/strong> button at the bottom-right corner to create a new virtual desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Click the newly created desktop (say <em>Desktop 2<\/em>) and open few apps.<\/li>\n<li>Now open <strong>\"Task View\" <\/strong>again and click <em>Desktop 1<\/em>, and you\u2019ll notice that the apps from <em>Desktop 2 <\/em>are now hidden.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/windows-productivity-tips-tricks\/virtual-desktops-windows-10.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"338\" alt=\"Virtual Desktops in Windows 10\"><\/figure>\n<p>To <strong>move apps between the virtual desktops<\/strong>, do this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the<strong> \"Task View\"<\/strong> and choose the source desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Drag the application to the target desktop (from the desktops list shown in the bottom of the screen).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Alternatively, you can also try doing this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <strong>\"Task View\"<\/strong>, choose the source desktop.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click the app and choose <strong>\"Move to\"<\/strong> and select the target desktop.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For example, let\u2019s say you create two virtual desktops: <strong>one for work and other for play<\/strong>. The first desktop can have apps like browser, email client, word processor, etc. and the other desktop can have apps such as music player, video streamer, etc. <strong>When you will open the first one<\/strong>, you won\u2019t see music player in the Taskbar or Task View (as it\u2019s part of the second virtual desktop) and so on. And thus, it also <strong>assists in keeping work and play separate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"7\">7. Use Tablet Mode View on your PC<\/h2>\n<p>Windows 10 is intelligent enough to <strong>change its look & feel depending on your device<\/strong>. For example, if you\u2019re working on a tablet, it shows its <strong>full screen metro interface that works in touch mode<\/strong>. Whereas on a traditional PC, it appears in its desktop interface.<\/p>\n<p>However, if you want to <strong>enjoy the best of both worlds<\/strong> and want to experience the full screen interface (aka Tablet Mode) on your usual PC, there\u2019s a simple trick to do so. You just need to follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>\"Action Center\" <\/strong>using its icon on Taskbar (or by swiping with four fingers on the touchpad).<\/li>\n<li>Click and enable <strong>\"Tablet mode\"<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/windows-productivity-tips-tricks\/windows-10-tablet-mode.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"338\" alt=\"Windows 10 Tablet Mode\"><\/figure>\n<h2 id=\"8\">8. Use Windows Ink to handwrite notes<\/h2>\n<p>Windows Ink is an <strong>annotation and note feature<\/strong> introduced in Windows 10 that\u2019s mainly meant for users with touchscreens and Microsoft Surface. This <strong>doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s not useful or available on your desktop system<\/strong>, but on the contrary, it\u2019s superb.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/windows-productivity-tips-tricks\/windows-ink-sketchpad.jpg\" width=\"601\" height=\"338\" alt=\"Windows Ink Sketchpad\"><\/figure>\n<p>Windows Ink comes with three tools at minimum, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sticky Notes: <\/strong>the familiar Sticky Notes with the <strong>functionality to handwrite notes<\/strong> with your finger or the Surface Pen on touch screens or the mouse otherwise.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sketchpad: <\/strong>a whiteboard with pencil, pen, highlighter, rulers and <strong>lot more drawing tools<\/strong> to pen down your thoughts using touch or drawing an art on the screen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Screen sketch: <\/strong>grabs a screenshot of the visible screen and lets you <strong>draw or annotate over the screenshot<\/strong> using pen, pencil, highlighter and more tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"9\">9. Use Touchpad Gestures for quick tasks<\/h2>\n<p>Windows 10 understands <strong>finger-friendly touchpad gestures<\/strong> for achieving quick tasks. Do note, however, that these gestures are only supported on <strong>precision touchpads<\/strong>, so if you\u2019re not able to make these gestures work, then most probably it\u2019s the fault of your laptop.
