Not every project needs a big framework<\/strong>. Both Foundation and Bootstrap are fantastic widely-supported frontend frameworks.<\/p>\n

Sometimes a web project just needs something simple<\/strong>. And that\u2019s exactly what Cutestrap<\/a><\/strong> delivers.<\/p>\n

Cutestrap describes itself as \u201csomething in between normalize.css<\/a> and a full blown framework\u201d<\/strong>. This is a great description because it\u2019s not a bare-bones stylesheet<\/strong> and it\u2019s not overly-ornate<\/strong> either.<\/p>\n

The main stylesheet totals about 8KB which is over ten times smaller<\/strong> than Bootstrap\u2019s minified stylesheet (averaging 110KB-120KB).<\/p>\n

Every Cutestrap website uses a vertical rhythm<\/strong> that blends nicely with its predefined grid system<\/strong>. All the default typography settings have their own line height values<\/strong> that match accordingly.<\/p>\n

All specificity is kept to a minimum<\/strong> so you can easily overwrite any settings<\/strong> if needed.<\/p>\n

You can find a bunch of examples<\/strong> right on the home page<\/a>. It lists demos plus source code<\/strong> alongside form elements, grids, buttons, and other Cutestrap components.<\/p>\n

\"cutestrap<\/a><\/figure>\n

Not only Cutestrap is a great alternative to Normalize<\/strong> but it\u2019s also super easy to edit<\/strong>. Cutestrap can work well as a foundational framework<\/strong> that you can modify to your liking.<\/p>\n

All CSS classes follow the BEM methodology<\/a><\/strong> for naming and hierarchies. This convention can be extended with your own BEM stylesheet<\/strong>, although you certainly don\u2019t need to follow the same naming conventions.<\/p>\n

The grids mostly rely on Flexbox<\/strong> and you can download Cutestrap\u2019s stylesheet as plain CSS<\/strong> or in Sass format<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t think of a better frontend alternative that\u2019s easy to set up<\/strong> and even easier to customize<\/strong>. All default HTML elements have defined styles<\/strong> so you can literally add Cutestrap to your site and start coding. The design won\u2019t have much flair but it\u2019ll look a hell of a lot better<\/strong> than the browser defaults.<\/p>\n
