We all know WordPress is a great platform<\/strong>: free, powerful, and comes with plenty of features right out of the box. However WordPress\u2019 search feature<\/strong> could always be open for improvement. The Algolia dev team may have created the best WP autocomplete search plugin<\/strong> you can find.<\/p>\n

Search by Algolia<\/a><\/strong> is a plugin built for all modern versions of WordPress<\/strong>. It automatically adds an autosuggest search bar<\/strong> into your site built on top of the default WordPress search.<\/p>\n

By default, the plugin is powered by the Algolia search algorithm<\/strong> which does offer a free plan limited to 10k searches per month. For most websites, this is way more than enough<\/strong> to get started.<\/p>\n

In fact, some blogs don\u2019t even see 10k unique visitors per month, let alone having that many searches. With Algolia, you can test the waters<\/strong> to see if visitors stick around<\/strong> and use the new search interface<\/strong> more than the default.<\/p>\n

Since everything is powered by Algolia you do have a minor setup process<\/strong>. The configuration page<\/a><\/strong> has more info to guide you along:<\/p>\n

  5. Test<\/strong> the new plugin.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Algolia offers free API keys<\/strong> for web apps that run the search form. You\u2019ll also find a small Algolia menu<\/strong> in your WordPress admin panel that looks something like this:<\/p>\n

    You can adjust basic settings<\/strong> such as search features, asynchronous searches, results lists, and which pages should be indexed. You can also change how many autocomplete suggestions to have<\/strong> per dropdown and how much info to display<\/strong> to the user.<\/p>\n

    Algolia really offers a lot of customization options with its search plugin. It\u2019s naturally meant to be a free resource to help push their search service, but it\u2019s still one of the quickest WordPress plugins<\/strong> with relevant autosuggestions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Note this plugin does require some technical setup<\/strong>, so it\u2019s not a \u201cset it and forget it\u201d solution. You should have some comfort working in WordPress<\/strong> and knowing how to customize search features. But if you\u2019re willing to give it a shot and go through the setup process you might be surprised at the final result.<\/p>\n
