Those who have used Google\u2019s Chrome browser<\/a> would be aware of the password saving feature that can be used for the browser\u2019s Autofill feature<\/strong>. However, did you know that you can import or export passwords from the browser itself?<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how you can enable the feature:<\/p>\n

  1. Open up the Chrome browser and type in chrome:\/\/flags\/#password-import-export<\/code> into the address bar. Upon pressing the \"Enter\"<\/strong> key, you\u2019ll be brought to Chrome\u2019s flags page. <\/li>\n
  2. Choose the \"Enable\"<\/strong> option from the drop down Menu. Once you\u2019ve done so, Chrome will prompt you to relaunch the browser. Click on \"Relaunch Now\"<\/strong> to restart the browser.\n

  3. Open up Chrome\u2019s password manager by entering chrome:\/\/settings\/passwords<\/code> or by going through the \"Settings\" <\/strong>menu and clicking on the \"Manage Passwords\"<\/strong> option found in the Advanced Settings.\n

  4. To export your list of passwords, simply click on the \"Export\"<\/strong> button. A window will popup that will request you to enter your user account password. Once you\u2019ve entered your password, a \"Save\" <\/strong>window will popup.\n

  5. The browser would automatically save your list of passwords as a plain \"Text Csv\"<\/strong> file. From there, you can import all the passwords into a password manager<\/strong> that supports \"Csv\"<\/strong> imports. <\/li>\n
  6. For those who are looking to import passwords<\/strong>, just click on the \"Import\" <\/strong>button. Unlike exporting passwords, Chrome will not ask you for your user account password. Simply open the \"Csv\"<\/strong> file that contains your password and Chrome will do the rest. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    One important thing to note about exporting passwords using this method is that Chrome will create a password list in plain text<\/strong>. Once you\u2019re done importing the passwords to a password manager, you may want to delete the file immediately to prevent<\/strong> anyone from accidentally stumbling onto it.<\/p>\n
