With 2017 just around the corner, Google<\/strong> is continuing its yearly tradition of its \"year in search results<\/a>,\" a run down of the most frequently Googled sensation throughout 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For the Global rankings, the crowning of \"the most searched topic of 2016\"<\/strong> goes to Niantic\u2019s little augmented reality game called Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Right behind Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/strong> is Apple\u2019s latest smartphone, the iPhone 7<\/strong> on the second position, and stood firmly in the top three<\/strong> is quite possibly the most divisive subject of year 2016: Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The fifth<\/strong> most searched topic is the United States\u2019 Powerball lottery<\/strong>, while the sixth position<\/strong> is occupied by the late David Bowie<\/strong> who was claimed by liver cancer in January this year.<\/p>\n

Seventh place<\/strong> is occupied by the Rated-R Superhero movie Deadpool<\/strong>, while the Rio Olympics<\/strong> rank as the eighth<\/strong> most searched topic of 2016.<\/p>\n

Rounding up the top ten, the online Snake-like browser game<\/strong> Slither.io<\/a> is in the ninth place<\/strong>, while the disappointing moie Suicide Squad<\/strong> sits at the tenth position<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
