But if you...\t\t\t\t\t\t<span>Read more<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>1. Disable video annotation<\/h2>\n<p>Annotation is a clickable box that overlays on top of YouTube videos. It aims to <strong>improve user engagement by displaying extra information or links <\/strong>related to the videos. It is useful for the video uploader but can also be quite annoying for the users.<\/p>\n<p>You can disable annotations to all YouTube videos via the YouTube settings. Click your profile picture, then click the gear icon (<strong>YouTube Setting<\/strong>). On the left sidebar, select <strong>Playback<\/strong> and uncheck the <strong>Annotations and Interactivity<\/strong> option. Easy as that.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/disable-youtube-anotation.jpg\" alt=\"disable youtube annotation\" width=\"500\" height=\"182\"><\/figure>\n<p>Unchecking this option will also hide the channel promotion and interactive card on the video you are watching.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Force buffering of the entire video<\/h2>\n<p>YouTube actually buffers only 30 seconds of the total video length when the video is paused. When your Internet connection isn\u2019t quite fast enough to load the video, this causes a lag.<\/p>\n<p>To avoid this, you can <strong>force YouTube to buffer the entire video before you can play it<\/strong>. For this, you can use <strong> <\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/smartvideo-for-youtube\/lnkdbjbjpnpjeciipoaflmpcddinpjjp?hl=en\">SmartVideo for YouTube <\/a> Chrome Extension. Once installing the extension, you get an additional option at the bottom of the video, click <strong>Global Preferences<\/strong>, and tick the box for <strong>Smart Buffer<\/strong>, as shown in the image below.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/smart-buffer.jpg\" alt=\"smart buffer\" width=\"500\" height=\"182\"><\/figure>\n<p>If you\u2019re using Firefox browser, then <a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/youtube-control-center\/\">YouTube Control Center <\/a> add-on can be helpful that offers similar options as the Chrome extension mentioned above.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Disable autoplay<\/h2>\n<p>YouTube will <strong>immediately start playing a video you\u2019ve just opened<\/strong>, which can sometimes be annoying.<\/p>\n<p>To disable autoplay video on YouTube, you can use the <a href=\"https:\/\/addons.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/addon\/youtube-control-center\/\">YouTube Control Center<\/a> Add-on in Firefox or <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/disable-autoplay-for-yout\/dinkeiniijmpjehejhedbciaedblhnnk?hl=en\">Disable Autoplay for YouTube<\/a> extension for Chrome.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/disable-youtube-autoplay.jpg\" alt=\"disable youtube autoplay\" width=\"500\" height=\"100\"><\/figure>\n<p>It has a handful of options to control a YouTube video. Install this Add-on, and find <strong>Autoplays video when the player loads<\/strong>. Keep this option unchecked to disable Autoplay.<\/p>\n<p>Another option is the<strong> Stop Autoplay<\/strong> extension which does the same thing. You need to install it on Chrome, then activate it via the <code>chrome:\/\/extensions\/<\/code> page.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Add watermark or logo<\/h2>\n<p>YouTube allows the addition of a logo of watermark of a brand for your channel, company or organization in your YouTube videos. Sign in to your YouTube account and click on the <strong>Creator Studio <\/strong>button<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click on <strong>CHANNEL &gt; Branding &gt; Add a watermark &gt; Choose File Button &gt; Save &gt; Update.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/adding-logo-1.jpg\" alt=\"youtube add logo\" width=\"767\" height=\"578\"><\/figure>\n<p>Then, you can define the <strong>Display time<\/strong> for the watermark or logo to be displayed on your video. You need only to do this once, and the watermark will appear in all of your uploaded videos.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/adding-logo-2.jpg\" alt=\"youtube add logo\" width=\"700\" height=\"407\"><\/figure>\n<h2>5. Extract a GIF file from video<\/h2>\n<p>I Bet you didn\u2019t know that you could turn a portion of a YouTube video into a GIF file. Here\u2019s how. Here\u2019s an example of a video I want to create a GIF from.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/gif-youtube-1.jpg\" alt=\"turn youtube to gif\" width=\"588\" height=\"413\"><\/figure>\n<p>All I have to do is add the word \u201c<strong>gif<\/strong>\u201d before the word \u201cYouTube\u201d.This will take me to a third-party service where I can pick the starting time, length of GIF, title, and caption to use for the GIF file I want to create.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/gif-youtube-2.jpg\" alt=\"turn youtube to gif\" width=\"667\" height=\"636\"><\/figure>\n<p>Alternatively, go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gifs.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">gifyoutube<\/a> site, then paste a link to the Youtube video you want to give the GIF treatment to. Customize the section you want to be taken out, then click <strong>CREATE GIF<\/strong> to get your file.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Contribute subtitles and closed captions<\/h2>\n<p>Did you know that you can contribute subtitles and closed captions to videos that are not uploaded by you? Some channels allow viewer-contributed subtitles, so if you feel like doing a bit of translating or if you want to fix annoying subtitles that were wrong in the first place, here\u2019s how you do it:<\/p>\n<p>If the video doesn\u2019t have subtitles go to <strong>Settings &gt; Subtitles\/CC &gt; Add subtitles<\/strong> and <strong>select the language<\/strong> that you\u2019d like to contribute. Enter your translation into the box and click <strong>Submit contribution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on whether you want others to work on the subtitles for this video or not, select <strong>No \u2013 Let others keep working on them<\/strong> or <strong>Yes \u2013 They\u2019re ready to be reviewed<\/strong> and click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If the video has subtitles or closed captions already, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Subtitles\/CC &gt; Add subtitles<\/strong> and <strong>select the video\u2019s language<\/strong>. When you get to the part where you want to add a caption, enter your caption into the box. Once you\u2019re done, click <strong>Submit contribution<\/strong> and then click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/adding-subtitles.jpg\" alt=\"youtube add subtitles\" width=\"700\" height=\"554\"><\/figure>\n<p>Once subtitles are submitted and approved then, the pre-existing subtitles will be overwritten.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/adding-subtitles-2.jpg\" alt=\"youtube add subtitles\" width=\"700\" height=\"255\"><\/figure>\n<h2>7. Advance Search & Filter Options<\/h2>\n<p>Do you know that YouTube offers many advanced search and filtering options that may be handy for getting the exact video you are looking for? When you search for a query and you click on any of the suggestions, you will arrive at a list of returned results. At the top left is a <strong>Filters<\/strong> button. Click it to unveil a list of search options.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/advance-search.jpg\" alt=\"youtube advance search\" width=\"699\" height=\"590\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can filter your search by <strong>Upload date, Type, Duration, Features, or Sort by<\/strong> depending upon the requirements.<\/p>\n<p>If you directly want to search a video with some specific filtering criteria, then you can do it easily by separating the search phrase and filtering criteria using a comma (,).<\/p>\n<p>For example, if you want to search for a video on computer basics with a duration of fewer than 4 minutes, then type in: <strong>basics of computer, Duration, Short <\/strong>and hit the search button.<\/p>\n<h2>9. Embed video with specific start & end Time<\/h2>\n<p>So you found a video you want to embed in your blog, but you don\u2019t want to embed the whole thing, just the part you find interesting, funny, or worth sharing; what do you do? You can embed a portion of the video <strong>with a specific start & stop time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Click on <strong>Share &gt; Embed<\/strong> and right at the end of YouTube video link insert <em>?start=ss&end=ss<\/em>, where <strong>ss <\/strong>represents seconds, <strong>start = ss<\/strong> means start time in seconds, <strong>end = ss<\/strong> means end time in seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Replace the \u201css\u201d with the time in seconds from the start of the video, e.g., start=11 indicates 0:11 as the starting time for the video.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an original embed code:<\/p>\n<pre>&lt;iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cXBVMyKQ3ZY\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;<\/pre>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to share only the portion that starts from the 11th second and ends at the 20th second.<\/p>\n<pre>\r\n&lt;iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cXBVMyKQ3ZY?start=11&end=20\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;\/iframe&gt;<\/pre>\n<h2>10. Add audio effects<\/h2>\n<p>If you want to replace the original playback audio of your YouTube video with some other audio file, go to your <strong>Video Manager<\/strong> page, and on the video you\u2019d like to edit, click the arrow next to <strong>Edit<\/strong>. Here in the drop-down menu, click <strong>Audio<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add or replace audio<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Add to video<\/strong> and select the track you want to add to your video.<\/p>\n<p>You can preview your video with the music track added. Once you\u2019ve found a track you like, click <strong>Save<\/strong>, and the new audio will be applied to your video. Do remember that you can add only one track to each video.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/youtube-tips-tricks-2015\/audio.jpg\" alt=\"add youtube audio effects\" width=\"742\" height=\"451\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Bonus: Enhance videos with Fixes, Filters, and Effects<\/h2>\n<p>Not every video has the best camera work, so you have to apply certain enhancements to add perfection to it. If you want re-touch your videos, go to <strong> Enhancements &gt; Quick Fixes <\/strong> to auto-fix problems in your video, stabilize shaking footage, change the speed or timelapse of your video, trim and rotate your video.<\/p>\n<p>You can also apply a color filter on your video under the <strong>Filters <\/strong>option, and if you would like to blur faces, go to the <strong>Special effects<\/strong> section.
