Even if your remote worker is a mom with two kids at home, there\u2019s no reason to prefer another worker who\u2019s a single male living alone, purely on that basis.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/remote-worker-myths\/myth-01.jpg\" alt=\"parents, mostly women\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\"><\/figure>\n<p>If you do, be careful, because in many cases, even <em><strong>asking<\/strong><\/em><strong> about parental status in an interview or choosing employees based on gender is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.findlaw.com\/employment\/hiring-process\/illegal-interview-questions-and-female-applicants.html\">illegal<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The actual demographics of most remote workers busts this myth wide open: in the United States at least, most people who work remotely are men. Women tend to work more office hours overall and are less likely to pursue a purely remote job.<\/p>\n<h2>Myth 2: You Get What You Pay For<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s as much variation in talent as there is in pay when it comes to remote workers.
