How To Unlink Your Phone Number<\/h2>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve had your phone number registered to your LINE account, <strong>you won\u2019t be able to un-register it<\/strong>, at least not the normal way. If you want your number removed, or replaced with a new number, you will need the help of your Facebook account, and a backup of your chat history because this involves uninstalling your LINE app first (see #8 on how to back up chat history). Here\u2019s how to unlink your phone number.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In <strong>LINE<\/strong> app, go to <strong>More<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Settings<\/strong> and tap on <strong>Accounts<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>When you see the Facebook logo, tap on the <strong>Link<\/strong> button. You will be asked to login to your Facebook account. <strong>Accept all permissions<\/strong> required to link Facebook to the LINE app.<\/li>\n<li>When you see that the <strong>Link<\/strong> option is now changed to <strong>Unlink<\/strong>, proceed to uninstall your LINE app from your device.<\/li>\n<li>Then, reinstall it. Once reinstalled, open <strong>LINE<\/strong> app.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>LINE User Login<\/strong> and then tap on <strong>Facebook<\/strong> (login again if you have to).<\/li>\n<li>If they ask you to enter a PIN number and you don\u2019t have one, just <strong>type in the last 4 digits of the previous phone number<\/strong> attached to your LINE account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/unlink-phone-number.jpg\" alt=\"How To Unlink Phone Number\" width=\"500\" height=\"373\"><\/figure>\n<h2>2. Prevent Automatic Addition From Contacts<\/h2>\n<p>If you don\u2019t want to let those who have your phone number to add you in their LINE contact automatically, this option can be turned off. By turning it off, they can <strong>only add you once you\u2019ve accepted their request<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>LINE<\/strong> app &gt; <strong>More<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Friends<\/strong> and untick <strong>Allow Others to Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/disable-auto-add.jpg\" alt=\"Prevent Others From Added You Automatically In Their Friends List\" width=\"500\" height=\"393\"><\/figure>\n<h2>3. Change Default Photo Quality From Low To Normal<\/h2>\n<p>By default, any photo you send to your friends via chat room, will suffer from a lower quality. It is a default setting. To change the quality of photo sent:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <strong>LINE<\/strong> app main page, go to <strong>More<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Chats & Voice<\/strong> and then tap on <strong>Photo Quality;<\/strong> change from <strong>Low<\/strong> to <strong>Normal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/photo-quality.jpg\" alt=\"Change Default Photo Quality To Normal From Low\" width=\"500\" height=\"391\"><\/figure>\n<h2>4. Change Your Default Ringtone<\/h2>\n<p>Are you bored with your current default LINE ringtone? If you would like to have it changed, you can have it changed from within the app itself, or<strong> use your own custom ringtone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>LINE<\/strong> app and go to <strong>More<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Notifications<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Tone<\/strong> then <strong>choose one ringtone<\/strong> as your default.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a custom ringtone that you want to use, from the <strong>Tone<\/strong> list, find the option <strong>Others..<\/strong> near the bottom of the list, tap on it and proceed to select your ringtone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/change-ringtone.jpg\" alt=\"Change Your Default Ringtone\" width=\"500\" height=\"381\"><\/figure>\n<h2>5. Delete, Forward or Save Messages to Note<\/h2>\n<p>There are these options under the Edit Messages feature, where you can Delete your messages, or forward it to someone else\u2019s or have it saved to Note. You will find these features useful especially the Delete feature, since you can <strong>choose any messages that you\u2019ve sent before to be deleted<\/strong> from your conversation. If you would like to know how to do that, follow these steps.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter any <strong>chat room<\/strong> from the <strong>LINE<\/strong> app, and tap on the <strong>down arrow<\/strong> button at the top right. Tap on <strong>Edit Messages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Choose whether you want to <strong>Delete Messages<\/strong>, <strong>Forward<\/strong> or <strong>Save to Notes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the message you want to apply the option to, and <strong>tick them<\/strong> (see shot).<\/li>\n<li>Once you\u2019ve ticked the messages, tap on the next action to take which will depend on whether you previously chose to Delete, Forward or Save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/edit-messages.jpg\" alt=\"Delete, Forward or Save Messages to Note\" width=\"500\" height=\"392\"><\/figure>\n<h2>6. Start A Free Call To Any LINE User<\/h2>\n<p>Just like Viber and Facebook Messenger, LINE also has a Free Call option that allows you to call any fellow LINE user for free. You need an active Internet connection oc course.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter a <strong>chat room<\/strong> with the friend you want to call.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on the <strong>down arrow<\/strong> at the top right and tap on <strong>Free Call<\/strong> to start calling your friend.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/free-call.jpg\" alt=\"Start A Free Call To Any Line User\" width=\"500\" height=\"278\"><\/figure>\n<h2>7. Turn off invitations and other messages from LINE family apps<\/h2>\n<p>So your friends keep sending invitations to you to play games from LINE Family apps, and those invitations just keep on coming, almost like ads that flood all your other social media accounts. I bet you didn\u2019t know LINE lets you disable these notifications. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the <strong>LINE<\/strong> app main page, go to <strong>More &gt; Settings &gt; Notifications &gt; Additional Services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Unauthorized Apps<\/strong>, untick <strong>Receive Messages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/disable-receive-messages.jpg\" alt=\"turn off invitations and other messages from LINE family apps\" width=\"500\" height=\"363\"><\/figure>\n<h2>8. Backup Chat History<\/h2>\n<p>Chat history is not automatically saved in the LINE cloud server, so if you uninstall the app, you will lose all your chat history. To create backups of your chat history:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter the chat room of the conversation you want to save and tap on the <strong>down arrow button<\/strong> at the top right then choose <strong>Chat Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Backup Chat History<\/strong> and choose <strong>Backup as a Text File<\/strong>, or <strong>Backup All<\/strong>. Your backups will be stored in your cloud storage for example, Dropbox.<\/li>\n<li>If you choose a backup as a text file, you cannot restore the chat history. If you choose <strong>Backup All<\/strong>, you can <strong>Import Chat History<\/strong> to restore it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/backup-chat-history.jpg\" alt=\"Backup Chat History\" width=\"500\" height=\"383\"><\/figure>\n<h2>9. View And Save photos Shared Previously<\/h2>\n<p>You probably have shared a few photos via LINE app before. Instead of going through all your chat history to look for these photos, you can save them to your Chat Album, or straight into your device.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In <strong>LINE<\/strong> app, enter <strong>any chat room<\/strong> containing photos.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on the <strong>dropdown button<\/strong> at the top right and choose <strong>Photos<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Save<\/strong> at the bottom, and <strong>tick<\/strong> the photos that you want to save. Choose whether you want to save it to your LINE chat <strong>album<\/strong> or <strong>to your device<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/line-tips-tricks\/photos.jpg\" alt=\"View And Save photos Shared Previously\" width=\"500\" height=\"390\"><\/figure>\n<h2>10. Share Timeline Updates In Chat<\/h2>\n<p>If there\u2019s something interesting shared in your Timeline updates that you want to forward to friends in your chat room, here\u2019s how you do it.
