They have a feature called <strong>Moments<\/strong>, a place where you can share photos, video or just a simple status update just like Facebook timeline. They also can be used from within a web browser on your desktop.<\/p>\n<p>We have previously published <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/enhance-wechat-experience\/\" rel=\"noopener\">WeChat tips and tricks<\/a> (you might want to start with that post first) and this round, we have collected <strong>10 more tips and tricks to get more out of WeChat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: These tips and tricks were tested on an Android device. How to Uupload & send video to moments<\/h2>\n<p>Sharing video on WeChat is fairly easy but for some reason sharing videos on Moments is not available yet. However, there is a trick for you to share your uploaded video and send it to Moments.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Enter any chat room<\/strong> and click on the <strong>+<\/strong> sign at the bottom, then tap on <strong>Video<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select to either <strong>Take Video<\/strong> to record a new video, or <strong>Choose Video<\/strong> to retrieve one that is already on your device.<\/li>\n<li>Once the video is uploaded, do a<strong> long press on the video<\/strong> in the chat room and choose <strong>Favorite<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now go to the WeChat main page and tap on the <strong>navicon<\/strong> and choose <strong>Favorite Messages<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In there, <strong>tap on the video<\/strong> you have just favorited then tap on the <strong>navicon<\/strong> and choose <strong>Send to Moments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the blank with your a message, and tap on <strong>Send<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/upload-share-video.jpg\" alt=\"How To Upload And Send Video To Moments\" width=\"500\" height=\"392\"><\/figure>\n<h2>2. Select group of friends that can see your moments<\/h2>\n<p>When updating your Moments, you can also choose to whom, or which group fo friends, you want to share that Moment with.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Discover &gt; Moments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on the <strong>Camera<\/strong> icon on the top right and select to <strong>Take Photo<\/strong> or <strong>Choose Photo<\/strong> on your device.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Share to\u2026<\/strong> and tap on <strong>My Groups <\/strong>in the Sharing page.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on New group\u2026 and tick the name of your friends that you want to allow to see the photo update.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Name<\/strong> then name your Group and tap on <strong>Save<\/strong>. Next tap on <strong>Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Go back to the Sharing Page and <strong>tick your newly created group<\/strong> and go back to your Moments update page.<\/li>\n<li>Complete your Moments update and tap on <strong>Send<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/share-moments-with-group.jpg\" alt=\"Share Moments with Group\" width=\"500\" height=\"236\"><\/figure>\n<h2>3. Choose which friends to not share moments with<\/h2>\n<p>If the group of people you don\u2019t want to share certain Moments with are small, you might want to opt out of sharing with these people. To do this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the WeChat app main page and tap on the <strong>navicon<\/strong> and choose <strong>Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Privacy<\/strong> and then tap on <strong>Don\u2019t Share my Moments<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on the <strong>+<\/strong> sign and <strong>tick friends<\/strong> that you don\u2019t want to see your Moments; tap on <strong>OK<\/strong>. In the next page tap on <strong>Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/dont-share-moments.jpg\" alt=\"Choose Which Friends That You Don't Want To Share Your Moments With\" width=\"500\" height=\"393\"><\/figure>\n<h2>4. Mention friends in your moments photo update<\/h2>\n<p>Like tagging friends on Facebook, you can also Mention friends on photo updates you release in Moments.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to <strong>Discover &gt; Moments <\/strong>and tap once on the <strong>Camera<\/strong> icon at the top right.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Take Photo<\/strong> if you want to snap a new picture or <strong>Choose Photo<\/strong> if you want to share the photo that is already in your device.<\/li>\n<li>In the status page, tap on <strong>Mention<\/strong> and <strong>tick friends<\/strong> you want to tag. Tap on <strong>Send<\/strong> to update your Moments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/mention-friends-in-moments.jpg\" alt=\"Mention Your Friends In Your Moments Photo Update\" width=\"500\" height=\"392\"><\/figure>\n<h2>5. Use @ to enter a chat group member\u2019s name quickly<\/h2>\n<p>When in a group conversation, @ pulls up the list of names of friends who are in the same chat group. This way, you can quickly choose who you want to mention just by picking the name from the listed suggested names.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>In any group chat<\/strong>, type <strong>@<\/strong> in the message box.<\/li>\n<li>You will be <strong>prompted with a new window<\/strong> asking you to <strong>select which friend that you want to tag<\/strong>. Choose your friend by <strong>tapping on their name.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/use-at-for-quick-name.jpg\" alt=\"Use @ To Enter A Chat Group Member's Name\" width=\"500\" height=\"391\"><\/figure>\n<h2>6. How to see all photos shared between two persons<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s a way for you to <strong>look for photos only shared between you and a friend<\/strong>. This of it as an album or an image gallery that is categorized by whom you share the photos with. To do this:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Enter the chat room<\/strong> you have with your friend, and <strong>look for any recent photos. <\/strong>Tap to open.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Swipe left<\/strong> or <strong>swipe right<\/strong> to slide between photos to see all the photos shared between you and your friend. Alternatively you can also <strong>tap on the icon at the bottom right<\/strong> to see the entire album.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/photos-between-people.jpg\" alt=\"How to see all photos shared between two person\" width=\"500\" height=\"395\"><\/figure>\n<h2>7. Trigger confetti using words<\/h2>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t noticed yet, certain keywords you use in chats may trigger Confetti that will fall from the top of your chat screen in your chat room. Everyone in the chat room will be able to see the Confetti if someone type a keyword that triggers it.<\/p>\n<p>Below are some of the keywords that you can use to trigger Confetti in chat room but do take note that some of these keywords have special time periods and may expire.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Happy New Year<\/li>\n<li>Merry Christmas<\/li>\n<li>Happy Easter<\/li>\n<li>Train<\/li>\n<li>Money<\/li>\n<li>Birthday<\/li>\n<li>Miss You<\/li>\n<li>Flower<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/trigger-confetti.jpg\" alt=\"Trigger Confetti Using Words\" width=\"500\" height=\"279\"><\/figure>\n<h2>8. Disable find me by phone number<\/h2>\n<p>By default, anyone that has your phone number saved as one of their contacts on their phone will be able to look for you on WeChat. If you want to disable this feature, here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Tap on the <strong>navicon<\/strong> and choose <strong>Settings<\/strong> in the main page of WeChat app.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Privacy<\/strong> then tap on <strong>Find Me by Phone Number<\/strong> to disable it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/disable-find-phone-number.jpg\" alt=\"Disable Find Me By Phone Number\" width=\"500\" height=\"373\"><\/figure>\n<h2>9. Turn off chat notification<\/h2>\n<p>Need to mute your chat notifications? Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Enter any chat<\/strong> and tap on the <strong>chat information<\/strong> icon at the top right.<\/li>\n<li>Look for <strong>Notifications<\/strong> and <strong>tap on it<\/strong> to disable.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Alternatively, you can choose when these notifications can come in (check out the next tip).<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/more-wechat-tips-and-trick\/disable-group-notification.jpg\" alt=\"Turn Off Any Group Notification\" width=\"500\" height=\"393\"><\/figure>\n<h2>10. Set your notification timing<\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s an option in WeChat that allows you to set the start and end time of when you can receive WeChat notifications. For instance, if you want peace of mine at the office, or when you are asleep, you can set your Notification Timing to be deactivated at certain periods.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the WeChat app main page and tap on the <strong>navicon &gt; Settings &gt; Notifications &gt; Notification Timing<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>All Day<\/strong> to disable.<\/li>\n<li>Then tap on <strong>Start<\/strong>. Set the Start time you want to receive notification then tap on <strong>Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Next tap on <strong>End<\/strong> to set the time when you want to stop receiving notifications.
