This post, however, is more about Facebook Housekeeping.<\/p>\n<p>After being active on Facebook for months or even years, you may have accumulated clutter in hidden areas on your Facebook account. These include friends lists, tagged locations, photo albums, inactive groups or pages, and apps with access to your info. Leave Inactive Groups and Pages<\/h2>\n<p>When checking your list of groups and pages, you may find several inactive ones. If they no longer serve you, here\u2019s how you can leave them:<\/p>\n<h3>Groups<\/h3>\n<p>On this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/browsegroups\/?category=membership\">page<\/a>, you can see and leave any or all of your groups. Click the settings button to the right of each group and choose <strong>Leave Group<\/strong>. After this, you won\u2019t get updates from the group.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/leave-groups.jpg\" alt=\"Leave group\" width=\"500\" height=\"218\"><\/figure>\n<h3>Pages<\/h3>\n<p>For pages, there are two methods:<\/p>\n<p>1. Go to this link if possible. Then, view your liked pages, click <strong>Liked<\/strong>, and choose <strong>Unlike<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/unlike-pages-method1.jpg\" alt=\"Unlike pages\" width=\"500\" height=\"363\"><\/figure>\n<p>2. Go to your <strong>Facebook Profile<\/strong> and access your Activity Log to view all liked pages.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/profile-to-activity-log.jpg\" alt=\"Go to Activity log\" width=\"500\" height=\"200\"><\/figure>\n<p>Then, on the left sidebar, navigate to <strong>Likes<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Pages and Interests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/pages-and-interests.jpg\" alt=\"Pages and Interests\" width=\"500\" height=\"237\"><\/figure>\n<p>Hover over any liked page to see a preview, then click <strong>Liked<\/strong> and choose <strong>Unlike<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/unlike-pages-method2.jpg\" alt=\"Unlike pages\" width=\"500\" height=\"364\"><\/figure>\n<h2>2. Manage Your Friends List & Friend Requests<\/h2>\n<p>If you have a large friends list and want to filter out the \u201cnoise,\u201d here\u2019s how to manage your friends and requests effectively:<\/p>\n<h3>Manage Friend List<\/h3>\n<p>Go to <strong>Profile<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Friends<\/strong>. Here, you can see all of the Facebook friends you\u2019ve added or approved previously. To <strong>unfriend someone<\/strong>, click the <strong>Friends<\/strong> button next to their name and choose <strong>Unfriend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/friends-list.jpg\" alt=\"Friend list\" width=\"500\" height=\"392\"><\/figure>\n<h3>Pending Friend Requests<\/h3>\n<p>Friend requests do not remove themselves if ignored. When you click the Friend Request icon (next to Messages), you\u2019ll see a list of pending requests, which remain until you act on them. You can choose <strong>Confirm<\/strong> or <strong>Not now<\/strong> to remove them from the list. You can also choose <strong>Mark As Spam<\/strong> to avoid repeated requests from the same person. For suggestions from friends, choose to <strong>Add Friend<\/strong> or <strong>Ignore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/friend-request.jpg\" alt=\"Friend Request\" width=\"500\" height=\"256\"><\/figure>\n<p>Who you add to your friend\u2019s list is entirely up to you.<\/p>\n<h3>Filter Your News Feed Content<\/h3>\n<p>If you feel obligated to add some friends but don\u2019t want to see their frequent updates, you can keep them as friends while avoiding their posts by unfollowing them:<\/p>\n<p>1. Go to their profile by hovering over their name and unticking <strong>Following<\/strong>, or<\/p>\n<p>2. Click the down arrow on their status update and choose <strong>Unfollow [friend\u2019s name]<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/unfollow.jpg\" alt=\"Unfollow friend\" width=\"500\" height=\"169\"><\/figure>\n<h2>3. Organize Your Photos into Proper Albums<\/h2>\n<p>If you frequently upload photos to Facebook via mobile, they will <strong>always end up in the Timeline Photos album<\/strong>. Over time, this album can become cluttered.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, consider creating separate albums categorized by niche, location, time, or any other way that suits you. Click on the <strong>Options<\/strong> button on any of your photos, then select <strong>Move To Other Album<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/move-to-other-album.jpg\" alt=\"Move to Other Album\" width=\"500\" height=\"370\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can then move the photo to an existing album or <strong>create a new album<\/strong> for it.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/create-album.jpg\" alt=\"Create Album\" width=\"500\" height=\"270\"><\/figure>\n<h2>4. Remove Unused Authorized Apps<\/h2>\n<p>Every app you\u2019ve authorized retains access to your Facebook account, even if you\u2019ve uninstalled it. You need to manually revoke this access, one app at a time.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, go to this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/settings?tab=applications\">page<\/a> to see apps you\u2019ve authorized in the past. Clear apps you no longer use by clicking the <strong>x<\/strong> on the right side of the app.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/apps.jpg\" alt=\"Apps\" width=\"500\" height=\"308\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can also choose to delete all app activities on your Facebook. Click <strong>Remove<\/strong> to confirm for each app.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/remove-app.jpg\" alt=\"Remove app\" width=\"500\" height=\"221\"><\/figure>\n<h2>5. Remove Tagged Location<\/h2>\n<p>If your friends tag you in their Facebook status along with a location, that tagged location will appear in <em>your<\/em> Places page. If you prefer not to share your whereabouts with your Facebook friends, you can remove this information.<\/p>\n<p>Visit your <strong>Profile<\/strong> page and click on <strong>More<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Places<\/strong>. If Places is not listed, click on <strong>Manage Sections<\/strong>, tick <strong>Places<\/strong>, and click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/places.jpg\" alt=\"Places\" width=\"500\" height=\"228\"><\/figure>\n<p>In the <strong>Places<\/strong> page, find any tagged locations and click on the <strong>Sharing Option<\/strong> next to the post date\/time. Choose <strong>Report\/Remove Tag\u2026<\/strong>, select <strong>I want to untag myself<\/strong>, and click <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/facebook-housekeeping-manage-clean-organize\/remove-tag.jpg\" alt=\"Report\/Remove Tag\" width=\"500\" height=\"205\"><\/figure>\n<p>Additionally, whenever you update a post on Facebook, your status may include the location where you made the update. Before publishing the status, if you want to remove the location info, click the <strong>down arrow<\/strong> at the end and choose <strong>Change Location\u2026<\/strong>.
