Some things were added, others removed. These simple tips will help. Add Files To Desktop<\/h2>\n<p>With Pantheon (the default file manager in Luna) you can\u2019t bring files or folders onto the desktop. But in Nautilus, it\u2019s possible. Launch the <strong>Software Center<\/strong>, search for \"gnome-tweak-tools\" and install it.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/elementary-os-luna-tips\/gnome-tweak-tools.jpg\" alt=\"gnome tweak\" width=\"600\" height=\"160\"><\/figure>\n<p>Now go to Terminal (<span class=\"key\">CTRL<\/span>+<span class=\"key\">ALT<\/span>+<span class=\"key\">T<\/span>) and <strong>type the same (gnome-tweak-tools) to launch it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/elementary-os-luna-tips\/gnome-tweak-tools-settings.jpg\" alt=\"gnome tweak settings\" width=\"600\" height=\"496\"><\/figure>\n<p>From the Desktop menu you can adjust the desktop to your liking. Go to the <strong>System Settings &gt; Startup Applications &gt; Add<\/strong>. Input the Name (Nautilus, for example) and type <strong>nautilus -n<\/strong> in Command. Minimize Window Button<\/h2>\n<p>Another uncomfortable thing you will find is that <strong>you can\u2019t minimize windows<\/strong>. By default you have to click on the desired application in Dock in order to do so. To bring back the traditional buttons, do the following.<\/p>\n<p>Install <strong>Dconf Editor<\/strong> by typing the command <strong>sudo apt-get install dconf-tools<\/strong>. Replace Default Programs<\/h2>\n<p>The applications that arrive with Luna are quite good and actually original, but some of them definitely <strong>lack functionality or aren\u2019t elementary at all<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>First, you should definitely <strong>install a media player<\/strong>. In this case a <strong>VLC player<\/strong> is a nice choice. Luna\u2019s default Movie Player lacks great functionality, rich subtitles support, Internet video streaming and YouTube video downloader. VLC media player is availbale at the Software Center.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/elementary-os-luna-tips\/video-player.jpg\" alt=\"video player\" width=\"600\" height=\"378\"><\/figure>\n<p>Second, you should also look for an <strong>alternative to File Roller<\/strong>, Luna\u2019s default archive manager. It\u2019s quite a confusing application for Linux newbies.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/b1.org\/\">B1 Free Archiver<\/a> is way more user-friendly and has good integration with OS Luna\u2019s style. It also has wide support for a lot of formats. Download the Ubuntu version. Additional Wallpapers<\/h2>\n<p>One of the first things most people notice (and praise) in Luna is the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/category\/wallpapers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">wallpapers collection<\/a>. However, the abovementioned tweaks are also applicable for OS Isis as (so far) the developers haven\u2019t introduced any changes in the tackled areas. So give Luna a try!
