If you double click on the <strong>SlideToShutDown.exe<\/strong> file you will see your <strong>lock screen rolled down half way through the screen from the top<\/strong>. From here, if you want to shut down your Windows, just slide downwards (but let\u2019s not do that just yet).<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/enable-slidetoshutdown-windows-81\/slide-to-shutdown.jpg\" alt=\"Slide To Shutdown\" width=\"500\" height=\"276\"><\/figure>\n<p>There are a few ways we can access this Slide to Shut down option quickly: <strong>Quick Search<\/strong>, <strong>Pin to Start or Taskbar<\/strong> and if you are on desktop, by setting <strong>a keyboard shortcut<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>1. Quick Search For SlideToShutdown<\/h3>\n<p>Because of a more powerful Search function on Windows 8, you can press your Windows key to bring out the Metro UI then type <strong>slidetoshutdown.exe<\/strong> and press <span class=\"key\">Enter<\/span> to run it.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/enable-slidetoshutdown-windows-81\/search.jpg\" alt=\"Use Windows 8 Search\" width=\"500\" height=\"330\"><\/figure>\n<h3>2. Pin To Start or Taskbar<\/h3>\n<p>You can also pin the <strong>SlideToShutDown.exe<\/strong> file to the Start or Taskbar. Right-click on the file and choose <strong>pin to Start or Taskbar<\/strong>, and the file will show up in your Metro Launcher or at the bottom of your desktop screen where the taskbar is. Create Shortcut On Desktop<\/h3>\n<p>Alternatively you can also create a shortcut to the file and place the shortcut on the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>Right-click on the <strong>SlideToShutDown.exe<\/strong> file then choose <strong>Send to<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Desktop (create shortcut)<\/strong>. On the desktop, right-click on the <strong>SlideToShutDown<\/strong> shortcut and choose properties.<\/p>\n<p>In the properties window, look under the Shortcut tab for the \u201cShortcut key:\u201d field. Give this shut down shortcut a keyboard shortcut combination, for example <span class=\"key\">Ctrl<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">S<\/span>, and you\u2019re done.
