Just get the Younity app to gain spontaneous access anytime you have an Internet connection.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t matter if you own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/mac-vs-pc-myth-busting-consumer-guide\/\">a Mac or a PC<\/a> or both, Younity will connect your iOS device to your computer, giving you <strong>access to all your files<\/strong> even when you don\u2019t have your computer with you.<\/p>\n<p>The app will also <strong>neatly organize your files<\/strong> for easy viewing on your iOS devices, and let you <strong>pre-download files for offline use<\/strong>. Then get the app to allow you access to all your files through an iOS device.<\/p>\n<p>After installing the Younity desktop app, you\u2019ll be asked to <strong>register for a Younity account<\/strong>. It will then scan for all the files on your computer. By default, it\u2019ll pick the root directory of your computer, so you can gain access to pretty much every file on your computer.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-desktop.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Desktop\" width=\"500\" height=\"321\"><\/figure>\n<p>However, if you\u2019re afraid of any security risks, you can pick specific folders that you want it to scan instead.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, go to the preferences by clicking on the <strong>Younity icon<\/strong> on the menu bar (Mac) or taskbar (PC) and select <strong>Add A Location<\/strong>. Navigate to the specific folder you want Younity to access and then click on <strong>Select Location<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-pref.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Preferences\" width=\"500\" height=\"390\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can do this to as many folders as you like, giving you complete control to which folder Younity has access to.<\/p>\n<h2>Accessing Computer Files<\/h2>\n<p>When you first run the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/younity\/id1474606408\">Younity iOS App<\/a>, you\u2019ll have to login with the Younity account you registered for earlier. Once logged in, you\u2019ll be able too see all the files you have given Younity access to.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-app.jpg\" alt=\"Younity App\" width=\"500\" height=\"442\"><\/figure>\n<p>The great thing about the Younity app is that it\u2019ll automatically sort music, video and photo files that it detects, no matter how scattered all these files are across your computer. It can <strong>sort music files<\/strong> by artist name, album title, song title, and even <strong>detect playlists that you have created on iTunes<\/strong> or other media players. It will also organize your photos.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-sort.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Sort\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Downloading Files For Offline Use<\/h2>\n<p>Younity acts like a <strong>remote file browser<\/strong> and <strong>only loads the file when you open it<\/strong>. This means it doesn\u2019t use up much mobile Internet data (unless you\u2019re thinking of streaming your entire music library on the go).<\/p>\n<p>If you need access to certain files for offline use, you can even pre-download the files you need. To download files onto the app, simply navigate to your desired document or media file and tap on the <strong>blue arrow<\/strong> at the bottom left corner of the screen. <strong>Select the files you want offline access to<\/strong> before tapping the <strong>download<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-download.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Download\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\"><\/figure>\n<p>Files that you\u2019ve made available offline can be easily identified by the <strong>black \u2018downloaded\u2019 icon<\/strong> next to it. You can even filter out all the downloaded files by tapping on the <strong>top right corner button<\/strong> and turning on <strong>Downloaded Files<\/strong> for easier navigation to those offline files.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-downloaded.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Downloaded\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\"><\/figure>\n<p>Although this allows you to download files at home, then use them on the go, these offline files will take up space in your device. To delete them, tap on the <strong>blue button<\/strong> at the bottom right corner and then tap on the <strong>minus button (in red)<\/strong> next to the downloaded file.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-delete.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Delete\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\"><\/figure>\n<p>You can <strong>track how much space the app has taken<\/strong> by going into <strong>Settings<\/strong>. There, you can also see the <strong>status of the connected devices<\/strong>, and set up a <strong>PIN lock<\/strong> for launching the app (if needed).<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/younity-access-computer-files-ios-device\/younity-settings.jpg\" alt=\"Younity Settings\" width=\"500\" height=\"374\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Younity is an awesome alternative to the mainstream cloud services and gives you even more flexibility when it comes to browsing just the files you need while on the go. Files on your computer cannot be deleted or moved with the app.<\/p>\n<p>One drawback is that you need your computer to stay on to when using Younity to download the files.
