You can use the Omnibox<\/a> of your Chrome browser to google things or sift through your search history but did you know you can create a Google Calendar event straight from the Omnibox as well?<\/p>\n

In this quicktip, we\u2019ll show you how you can create new Google Calendar events on the Omnibox<\/strong> with a simple setup.<\/p>\n

Add New Search Engine In Omnibox<\/h2>\n

First, open up Chrome, click the Navicon<\/strong>, and choose Settings<\/strong>. Alternatively, you can use Cmd<\/span> + +<\/span> + ,<\/span> to trigger it immediately.<\/p>\n

Look for \u201cManage search engines\u2026 \u201c<\/strong> under Search<\/strong> and click it.<\/p>\n

Scroll down until you reach the bottom and you will see 3 empty text boxes in a single row.<\/p>\n

  1. Fill the first text box to the left \u201cAdd a new search engine box\u201d with Add Calendar Event<\/code>.<\/li>\n
  2. Type incal<\/code> in the \u201cKeyword\u201d text box.<\/li>\n

    Add Event From Chrome Omnibox<\/h2>\n

    Now you can add events to your Google Calendar straight from the Omnibox. Just type cal<\/strong>, press Tab<\/span>, and add your calendar event. You can even put in the day and time of the event, for example, \u201cAnn\u2019s Birthday at Green Cafe on Sunday 4pm\u201d.<\/p>\n
