In fact, the more time I spent <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/what-mom-never-told-you-about-building-website\/\" rel=\"noopener\">building these amazing websites<\/a>, the less time I had to devote to growing my business.<\/p>\n<p>I needed <strong>a way to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/more-clients-with-testimonials\/\" rel=\"noopener\">bring in new prospective clients<\/a><\/strong> while taking care of my current commitments and deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>For me, cold calling was out. I simply didn\u2019t yet have the time needed to make that successful. Email marketing was out, as I didn\u2019t yet have a list. Your ability to work with the various types...\t\t\t\t\t\t<span>Read more<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Step 1: Create Your Cult<\/h2>\n<p>Ask yourself, \"Who do I need to become to attract my cult to me?\" One of my favorite examples of a \"Cult\" following is Apple. From day one, they were different.<\/p>\n<p>They came out with <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/email-marketing-tips-to-do-it-well\/\" rel=\"noopener\">marketing<\/a> and messaging that challenged the way we look at computers. To the Apple crew, their computers were not simply workhorses, <strong>but pieces of art <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/stunning-apple-concept-designs\/\" rel=\"noopener\">to be revered, even loved<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remember their most famous commercial, \"Are you a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/mac-vs-pc-myth-busting-consumer-guide\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Mac or a PC<\/a>?\" To this day, we still refer to ourselves in this way! That\u2019s amazing.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/guide-to-client-pursuing-you\/create-your-cult.jpg\" alt=\"create-your-cult\" width=\"800\" height=\"489\"><\/figure>\n<p>So, how do you go from nobody to somebody? How do you get buy-in from your entire marketplace and stand above the crowded messaging?<\/p>\n<p><strong>You simply need to create your cul<\/strong>t. It\u2019s easier than you might think.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify your perfect cult member.<\/li>\n<li>Ask, \"what is the right offer to convert my cult members?\"<\/li>\n<li>Create awesome events, offers, and downloads to give to your cult members.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Stand For or Against Something<\/h3>\n<p>There are no real secrets to getting clients to pursue you. But, there are some strategies that truly work. <strong>One of these strategies is to stand for (or against) something<\/strong>. I often refer to this as a company\u2019s \"Cause.\" It\u2019s all about getting people to rally around <strong><em>you<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the dirtiest secret in your industry? <\/strong>Give away your knowledge and educate your marketplace on how much you know by exposing the industry\u2019s dirty little secret(s). This is the best way to begin creating your cult following.<\/p>\n<p>One more thing: when you\u2019re creating your cult \u2013 be who you are, be yourself. Check out this post by Addison on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/ideal-client-profile\/\" rel=\"noopener\">how to create ideal client profiles<\/a>. Be as specific as possible as this is going to help you <strong>identify your cult\u2019s problem from their point of view. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At first, your goal is to attract cult members \u2013 but now your goal is to prove to them that you understand the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/new-freelancers-common-problems\/\" rel=\"noopener\">problem that they face<\/a>. This isn\u2019t a new tactic. It\u2019s the oldest marketing tool in the book. Who wants to buy crap they don\u2019t need, right?<\/p>\n<p>So, prove it. <strong>Show your cult that you understand their problem<\/strong> \u2013 otherwise they will never trust your solution.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/guide-to-client-pursuing-you\/identify-problem.jpg\" alt=\"identify-problem\" width=\"800\" height=\"633\"><\/figure>\n<p>In understanding the value of what you\u2019re about to offer your cult, there\u2019s<strong> a big difference between actual value <\/strong>and<strong> perceived value<\/strong>. You need to see the value of what you\u2019re offering through their eyes, through the eyes of your cult members. Then offer them a solution they can\u2019t refuse.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3: Offer Your Solution<\/h2>\n<p>One way to introduce your offer is to create demos or freebies that will help you <strong>generate leads from your cult following<\/strong>. You could hold a free webinar, or give away downloads on your site. There are probably 100 different things you can do to \"advertise\" your offer to your cult.<\/p>\n<p>Pick three and do them, and in the process <strong>turn your cult members into your clients<\/strong>; remember, you still need to make sales! Model What Works <\/strong>\u2013 Use tactics and strategies that are simple in your sales process. Don\u2019t try and reinvent the wheel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Make It Easy<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>\u2013 Whatever your offer is, make it easy to purchase. Forcing a client to fill out two pages of on online form would be the opposite of easy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Hustle<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>\u2013 Stay involved and stay committed to your Cause and to your Cult. Once you have a following, you\u2019ll need to be able to do sales and production, it\u2019s a good problem to have!<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Be true to who you are<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>\u2013 Don\u2019t try to be something or someone you\u2019re not.
