Under lockdown, <strong>certain parts of the screen can be disabled<\/strong>. We are going to use Tweetbot as an example. When you\u2019re in the app, press on the home button <strong>3 times<\/strong>. This puts you in \u2018Guided Access\u2019 mode.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/tweetbot-guide-access-mode.jpg\" alt=\"enter guided access mode\" height=\"360\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>At the bottom left, there is an <strong>Option<\/strong> button. Tapping on it will reveal a page where you can set a few options.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/guide-access-more-options.jpg\" alt=\"more options guided access\" height=\"361\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>If you turn off \u201cTouch\u201d, the entire screen will be disabled. And if you choose to turn off \u201cMotion\u201d your iPhone will be locked in either portrait or landscape mode, depending on the app.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/touch-off-on.jpg\" alt=\"turn touch on and off\" height=\"360\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>To disable certain parts of the screen, draw a circle on the area that you want to disable. Now the gray part of the screen (in the shot below) is disabled; this means all the icons are not functional. The only thing that is functioning is the non-grayscaled part.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/start-guide-access.jpg\" alt=\"start guided access\" height=\"361\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Stop \u2018Guided Access\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>To stop \u2018Guided Access\u2019, <strong>triple press the home button<\/strong>. It will ask you for the passcode that you entered earlier. Enter the passcode.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on the \u2018Guided Access\u2019 page, tap on <strong>End<\/strong>. When \u2018Guided Access\u2019 ends, your iPhone will return to normal.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/tap-on-end.jpg\" alt=\"tap end to stop guided access\" height=\"358\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<h2>To Note<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Here are a few things to note about using \u2018Guided Access\u2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Under \u2018Guided Access\u2019 is an option called \u2018Enable Screen Sleep\u2019. If you have this option OFF, when \u2018Guided Access\u2019 is activated, the power button will lose its functionality. Your screen will always stay lit up. If you do not want this function, have the option ON.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/disable-certain-area-screen-guided-access-ios-devices\/enable-screen-sleep.jpg\" height=\"360\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>2. When you are using \u2018Guided Access\u2019 mode, your Home button will not function as normal. This means you cannot leave the app even if you press the Home button, as you have been locked in to the app.<\/p>\n<p>3.
