So, what\u2019s going on?<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, the traditional positions of blog posts and sidebars aren\u2019t as effective at delivering a message nowadays. Content consumers are quick to bounce, and you must be a bit more creative to get their attention.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, your blog or website contains a valuable spot called the \u201cstage.\u201d What and where is the blog stage, and why is it so useful? Let\u2019s explore how to edit, style, and effectively use one of your blog\u2019s hidden hot spots.<\/p>\n<h2>The Versatility of the Blog Stage<\/h2>\n<p>Have you heard of a \u201cblog stage\u201d? Assuming you haven\u2019t completely overhauled your design, you should have one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The stage sits right below the page navigation but above the top post.<\/strong> It\u2019s an ideal place for announcements and subscription forms because it\u2019s where your readers\u2019 eyes naturally go when they visit your blog. The stage is where most readers focus their gaze on your homepage, as it\u2019s front and center.<\/p>\n<p>The best part is that <strong>items on your blog stage show up only on the homepage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ideas for a blog stage:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Product giveaways:<\/strong> Product giveaways need attention, and you usually want to direct folks to social media pages.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capturing subscribers:<\/strong> Many blogs place neat forms here that allow readers to opt into a mailing list.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Soliciting feedback:<\/strong> My stage has an announcement asking for feedback on a recent eBook.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Simple WordPress Coding for the Blog Stage<\/h2>\n<p>Editing the stage is easy \u2013 this is definitely beginner-level coding. At the same time, it\u2019s a trick you won\u2019t see used too often, so it\u2019s pretty effective.<\/p>\n<p>Note that this method works if you use WordPress.org and have access to the code. If you use Blogger, you can edit the stage by placing an HTML\/Text gadget above Blog Posts in the layout tab.<\/p>\n<p>If you use WordPress.org and a reasonably flexible premium theme, this should be straightforward.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wordpress-blog-stage\/adding-the-codes.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"299\" alt=\"Adding code to WordPress index.php to create a blog stage\"><\/figure>\n<p>To start, navigate to the dashboard and go to <strong>Appearance &gt; Editor<\/strong>. Choose your settings, then hit <strong>Get Code<\/strong>, select the \u2018iFrame\u2019 option, and insert it into your blog stage as indicated above.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wordpress-blog-stage\/facebook-like-iframe.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"285\" alt=\"Facebook Like Box iFrame code for blog stage\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u2018Like\u2019 boxes look attractive, especially when there are thousands of faces of fans who have \u2018Liked\u2019 your Facebook page. However, if you\u2019re just starting out, that box may not get many inline clicks.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s explore other options you can try.<\/p>\n<h3>2. The Simple Announcement<\/h3>\n<p>My first announcement was about a <em>giveaway<\/em> contest I ran for Adobe CS. By commenting and \u2018Liking\u2019 a blog post, participants could win a copy of CS Master Collection. It was an awesome offer, but only if people knew about it.<\/p>\n<p>Generally, this part of your blog is highly effective for attracting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/encourage-blog-comments-tips\/\">more blog comments<\/a> on a specific post.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Subscription Forms<\/h3>\n<p>I often mention <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/go\/aweber\">Aweber<\/a> in my writing. They let you design beautiful subscription forms where users can enter their email, name, and any other information to join your mailing list.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/wordpress-blog-stage\/subscribe-form.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"299\" alt=\"Subscription form for Aweber on WordPress blog stage\"><\/figure>\n<p>These forms are ideal if you want readers to subscribe by email and can be placed in your stage with one line of JavaScript that Aweber generates for you.
