It will be easier to set a cease-sharing date, something like an expiration date for the sharing permission. Beyond this date, the file no longer can be shared with the person you share it to.<\/p>\n<p>By adding this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/script.google.com\/u\/1\/home\/projects\/1aGt_ygxPcG36jRi8hojZDRGirLxcY58gfx_IdCP7lfMOuSKiLa6Rwaa2\/edit\">Google Script<\/a> on your Google Drive, you can <strong>set an expiration date to your Google Drive shared files<\/strong>. And all it needs is a script.<\/p>\n<h2>Integrating Google Drive<\/h2>\n<p>The first step is to make a copy of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/script.google.com\/u\/1\/home\/projects\/1aGt_ygxPcG36jRi8hojZDRGirLxcY58gfx_IdCP7lfMOuSKiLa6Rwaa2\/edit\">this script<\/a> on Google Script. Click on <strong>File<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Make A Copy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/expiration-date-google-drive-folders\/make-a-copy.jpg\" alt=\"expiration-shared-g-drive-folder\" height=\"303\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>Under <code>EXPIRY_TIME<\/code> put in the date (yyyy-mm-dd) and time the folder ceases to be shared. Under <code>FOLDER_URL<\/code>, change the url path to the folder you want to set an expiration time to.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/expiration-date-google-drive-folders\/change-folder-url-date-time.jpg\" alt=\"expiration-shared-g-drive-folder\" height=\"160\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>The folder URL that needs replacing must be the \u2018link to share\u2019 of the folder. To obtain the \u2018Link to share\u2019 URL, tick the folder you want to share and click on <strong>Share<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/expiration-date-google-drive-folders\/tick-share.jpg\" alt=\"expiration-shared-g-drive-folder\" height=\"277\" width=\"500\"><\/figure>\n<p>After doing so, you\u2019ll see the \u2018Sharing Settings\u2019 page. You will receive this notification in an email.
