In this guide,  I\u2019ll walk you through setting up your custom MOTD on Mac\u2019s Terminal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\" style=\"border-color:#d7d7d7;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;\">\n<div class=\"sue-icon-text\" data-url=\"\" data-target=\"self\" style=\"min-height:34px;padding-left:36px;color:#333333\">\n<div class=\"sue-icon-text-icon\" style=\"color:#333333;font-size:24px;width:24px;height:24px\"><i class=\"sui sui-lightbulb-o\" style=\"font-size:24px;color:#333333\"><\/i><\/div>\n<div class=\"sue-icon-text-content su-u-trim\" style=\"color:#333333\">The following method should work for most Linux distributions too.<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear:both;height:0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3>#1<\/h3>\n<p>Launch Terminal, type in the following command, and hit <span class=\"key\">Return<\/span>\/<span class=\"key\">Enter<\/span> .<\/p>\n<pre>sudo nano \/etc\/motd<\/pre>\n<h3>#2<\/h3>\n<p>Enter your Mac\u2019s password and hit <span class=\"key\">Return<\/span>\/<span class=\"key\">Enter<\/span> again<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/how-to-customized-mac-terminal-starup-screen-message\/enter-password.jpg\" alt=\"enter password\" width=\"1165\" height=\"324\"><\/figure>\n<h3>#3<\/h3>\n<p>Enter the message you want Terminal to show the next time it is launched.<\/p>\n<p>When you are done, use the keyboard shortcut <span class=\"key\">Control<\/span> + <span class=\"key\">X<\/span> to quit, then enter <span class=\"key\">Y<\/span> to save the file.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s it.
