Check Cellular Settings<\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes when the Personal Hotspot option may not appear in the main settings app, it is because this <strong>option is toggled off<\/strong> in the Personal Hotspot settings.<\/p>\n<p>To check this go to <strong>Settings &gt; Mobile Data &gt; Personal Hotspot<\/strong> and see if it is turned on (the button would be green).<\/p>\n<p>If the Personal Hotspot is not turned on (the button would be grey), you can <strong>toggle it on by taping on it<\/strong>. Check your phone\u2019s name<\/h3>\n<p>Each iOS device has a specific name e.g. \u201cJohnny Appleseed\u2019s iPhone\u201d etc. that the device uses for different applications. Restart your device<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Troubleshooting some tricky issues might be as easy as turning off and back on your device.<\/strong> There\u2019s a specific way to restart your iPhone <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/force-restart-any-iphones\/\">based on the model you have<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For example, with <strong>iPhone X or newer<\/strong>, you should press and hold the volume button together with the side button until you see a slider on the screen. <strong>Drag this slider to turn off your iPhone.<\/strong> After your iPhone is fully off, you press and hold the side button again until the Apple logo pops up.<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>iPhone SE (2nd generation), 8, 7, or 6<\/strong>, the process is a bit different. Remove APN settings<\/h3>\n<p>At times certain cell phone providers require you to install APN in your iOS device to make it work with their network. However, <strong>APN certificates can interfere<\/strong> with Personal Hotspot\u2019s availability.<\/p>\n<p>So to ensure APN certificates do not cause Hotspot unavailability issue, you should delete them. Reset iOS to factory settings<\/h3>\n<p>Restoring your phone to the factory settings <strong>should be your last option<\/strong> on the quest of solving the Personal Hotspot unavailability issue.
