Conventional to-do list apps or programs often work only on one device. If you have an Android phone and work with an iPad, you\u2019ll need to use two separate apps or find a workaround for the OS differences. Imagine if you had one app that worked on all platforms and even on your desktop browser (Google Chrome) too!<\/p>\n

Any.DO offers exactly that, and it is free with no limitations, unlike other apps that require you to purchase the \u2018pro\u2019 version to unlock certain features. The app uses a simple and uncluttered design, making it very attractive. It supports speech detection in multiple languages and syncs simultaneously across multiple platforms.<\/p>\n

Getting Started with Any.DO<\/h2>\n

Before we get started, download Any.DO onto your devices. Any.DO is available on iOS<\/a>, Android<\/a>, and even as a Google Chrome extension<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Register an account via email or Facebook login. Registration is needed if you want to sync your data across multiple devices. We\u2019ll show you the rounds as we see it on the iPhone. Settings and features may differ on Android.<\/p>\n

1. Adding Items<\/h3>\n

To begin adding your own to-do tasks, pull down the main screen and start typing. As you type, it suggests other keywords and sometimes even completes your words for you. Typing \u201cWash\u201d shows suggestions like washing your car, dishes, clothes, or laundry.<\/p>\n

Entries can also be added with voice commands by tapping the microphone icon. Dictate your tasks with ease as its voice recognition works quite accurately. This is great for making notes when your hands aren\u2019t free.<\/p>\n

2. Organizing Items<\/h3>\n

To help you stay organized, Any.DO lets you categorize to-do lists based on Category<\/strong> (e.g., \u2018Personal\u2019 or \u2018Work\u2019) and Date<\/strong> (e.g., \u2018Today\u2019, \u2018Tomorrow\u2019, \u2018This Week\u2019, or \u2018Later\u2019). By default, new tasks go into the Personal category (referred to as Folders on Android).<\/p>\n

Categories can be expanded by tapping on them. You can also rearrange tasks by long-pressing and dragging them to another category or date. To create a new category, tap on New category<\/strong>. On Android, creating a new folder is accessible via Settings > Folders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Quick Access<\/h3>\n

If your task contains words like \u2018Call\u2019, \u2018Email\u2019, or \u2018Text\u2019 along with a contact\u2019s name, icons for Call, Email, and Message<\/strong> will appear next to the task, giving you quick access to your contact list.<\/p>\n

Tapping these icons allows you to call the person immediately, write an email, or send a message.<\/p>\n

If you have multiple contacts with the same name, you can choose which contact you want to interact with.<\/p>\n

3. Removing Items<\/h3>\n

To remove a completed task, swipe it from left to right. You can undo this by swiping from right to left. To remove all completed tasks, tap the circular X button or shake your device to remove them all at once.<\/p>\n

You can view all removed tasks by tapping on \u2018Done\u2019 in the \u2018Settings\u2019 menu. From there, you can permanently delete past completed tasks or restore them by swiping from right to left.<\/p>\n

4. Setting Reminders<\/h3>\n

To-do apps are pointless without reminders. On Any.DO, you can add reminders by tapping the Remind<\/strong> button or Bell<\/strong> icon when creating a task.<\/p>\n

When setting the alarm for your to-do item, you can change the time and\/or date if needed, and set when it should notify you. You can be notified at the set time, or 5, 10, 30, or 60 minutes prior.<\/p>\n

More Cool Things You Can Do<\/h2>\n

Under \u2018Badge\u2019 in \u2018Settings\u2019, you can change the app badge settings<\/strong> to easily determine the number of tasks you have to do. You can also customize it to show tasks in individual categories.<\/p>\n

In landscape mode, you can view all your categories and tasks on the same page. You can then drag and drop tasks from one category to another<\/strong> or change their due dates. You can even access your iPhone calendar to check what other events are happening on those dates.<\/p>\n

Any.DO on Chrome and Syncing<\/h2>\n

Syncing is crucial for Any.DO as it allows users to access their to-do lists from any device. Registering for an account enables you to sync your tasks across all your devices. With the Google Chrome extension<\/a>, Any.DO takes things a notch higher.<\/p>\n

The interface is similar to the smartphone app, complete with all the features. When you finish a task, click on the Tick symbol to the left of the task to clear it.<\/p>\n
