In this post, we\u2019ll show you how to do it using <a href=\"https:\/\/simplebackups.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SimpleBackups.io<\/a> that makes the business of site backup much simpler.<\/p>\n<p>Before we begin, you need to have a website with SSH access, as well as an active Dropbox account. Once you have those, we can get started.<\/p>\n<h2>Getting Started<\/h2>\n<p>To start with, you need to register an account. It\u2019s pretty seamless. As soon as you sign-up with your email address and a password, you will be shown the following screen that will walk you through the steps.<\/p>\n<p>So as a first step, we are going to connect SimpleBackups to Dropbox by selecting the <strong>Connect your cloud storage<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/auto-backup-website-dropbox\/step-1.jpg\" alt=\"backup website screenshots\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\"><\/figure>\n<p>Select Dropbox and allow SimpleBackups to have access. There are two ways to do this, either by using the SSH password or SSH key. I would prefer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/ssh-to-server-without-password\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">using the SSH key<\/a> as it is more streamlined.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/auto-backup-website-dropbox\/step-2.jpg\" alt=\"backup website screenshots\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\"><\/figure>\n<p>Once you select the method, log in to your site\u2019s SSH and run the provided command.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/auto-backup-website-dropbox\/step-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"backup website screenshots\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\"><\/figure>\n<h2>Creating a backup<\/h2>\n<p>As Dropbox, SimpleBackups, and our site are now connected, we can now start creating a backup. We proceed by selecting the <strong>\u201cCreate your backup\u201d<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/auto-backup-website-dropbox\/step-3.jpg\" alt=\"backup website screenshots\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\"><\/figure>\n<p>At this point, you can select what type of data, you\u2019d like to include in the backup i.e. files or database or both.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/auto-backup-website-dropbox\/step-3-1.jpg\" alt=\"backup website screenshots\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\"><\/figure>\n<p>Also, you can select how often (daily, weekly, or monthly) should the cloud storage create the backup and for how long should it be retained.
