To grasp its scale, consider that Facebook boasts <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/\">901 million monthly active users<\/a>, with 54.16% accessing the platform via mobile devices. These include Premium Ads displayed in multiple locations: the profile\u2019s right side, within the news feed, upon logging out, and even in mobile feeds.<\/p>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.hongkiat.com\/uploads\/fb-whats-next\/facebook-premium-ads.jpg\" height=\"449\" width=\"500\" alt=\"Facebook Premium Ads\"><\/figure>\n<p>As ads become more prevalent, the user experience will inevitably be impacted. Previously, Facebook relied on recommendation ads based on our preferences, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/stop-facebook-ads-recommendations\/\">can be disabled<\/a>, and sponsored stories in our feeds. Given the pressure to boost revenue, it\u2019s likely that Facebook will further monetize its mobile offerings in the future.<\/p>\n<h2>Reactions to Intrusive Ads<\/h2>\n<p>Twitter began displaying sponsored ads in user feeds some time ago, a strategy similar to Facebook\u2019s. The move was met with mixed reactions from Twitter users. So, what can we expect from Facebook? The success of this approach hinges on user acceptance and Facebook\u2019s ability to target the right audience with their sponsored stories. If Facebook can maintain high-quality sponsored content, users may eventually find these ads less intrusive and even enjoyable. However, there\u2019s also the risk that users may find their feeds overwhelmed by ads, diminishing the user experience. The integration\u2019s success will ultimately depend on its execution.<\/p>\n<h2>Expanding Horizons<\/h2>\n<p>According to some <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.computerworld.com\/article\/2504431\/facebook-privacy-head-suggests-company-will-serve-ads-on-other-sites.html\">sources<\/a>, Facebook is considering serving ads on third-party websites, similar to Google\u2019s advertising services. Essentially, every piece of information you share on Facebook could be used to create a profile for targeted advertising. If this comes to fruition, one hopes Facebook will find a way to make these ads user-friendly while respecting privacy concerns.<\/p>\n<h2>Mobile Platform Development<\/h2>\n<p>With over half of its user base accessing Facebook via mobile devices, it\u2019s only logical for the company to focus on enhancing its mobile advertising capabilities. The challenge lies in adapting to various operating systems and screen sizes, as well as deciding on the ad format-whether full-screen or sidebar ads.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s worth noting that Facebook\u2019s acquisitions, such as the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/archive.nytimes.com\/dealbook.nytimes.com\/2012\/04\/09\/facebook-buys-instagram-for-1-billion\/\">$1 billion purchase of Instagram<\/a> and the subsequent <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/technology-18506255\">acquisition of Face.com<\/a>, indicate a focus on mobile and photo-sharing capabilities.
