We use the Web for just about anything these days. At the minimum, we do stuff like reading the news headlines, catching up with friends, and checking our emails<\/a>. But as technology advances, more and more bandwidth-hungry apps and services start to crop up. You can now do weekly skype sessions with your family when you are away on campus or even complete an online degree with a university halfway across the world. All of this and a whole lot more is made possible because of the Internet \u2013 and a stable Internet connection, of course.<\/p>\n

Derived with stats by Akamai, here\u2019s an infographic from OnlineUniversities.com<\/strong> on the State of the Internet in 2012<\/strong>. So far, South Korea is (still) topping the list of Internet speeds, boasting a whooping 17.5 Mbps connection speed \u2013 and that\u2019s the average speed for the nation<\/strong>. By comparison, the U.S. averages out at about 5.8 Mbps while the global average connection speed crawls by at a measly 2.3 Mbps.<\/p>\n
