If you have tips, tricks, concepts, artwork, cool tools, cooler apps, and insights you want to share with the web design, development, and tech community, write for us.<\/p>\n<p>We are also looking for inspirational, cool, share-worthy, and viral materials to publish.<\/p>\n<p>Hongkiat.com (HKDC) accepts submissions in the following categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/design-dev\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Design and\/or Development<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/technology\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Technology<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/inspiration\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Inspiration<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/social-commerce\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Social Commerce<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to get published on HKDC<\/h2>\n<p>All submissions will need to go through an internal review, and here are some of the things that will help us determine which posts we will eventually publish.<\/p>\n<h3>What gets approved<\/h3>\n<p>If you want to write for us:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cite and link back to credible sources\/resources<\/strong> that can substantiate your claims and ideas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Give relatable examples<\/strong> that help readers visualize the message you are trying to deliver to them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Know the target audience<\/strong> for your post and write with them in mind.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Include images<\/strong> that complement the content of your post (only where possible)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sounds easy, doesn\u2019t it? But hold on to your keyboard, we have to reject a lot of posts because of a variety of reasons, and to prevent yours from being part of that statistic, find out why.<\/p>\n<h3>What gets rejected<\/h3>\n<p>The submissions we had to say no to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cover <strong>topics that are irrelevant<\/strong> to what we usually publish, e.g., loans, choosing a curtain, how to hire a lawyer, essay writing assignments, biographies, science fiction stories, a science journal, the first chapter of a novel, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Are <strong>too short<\/strong> (blurb-length) or <strong>too long<\/strong> (novel-length) to be published.<\/li>\n<li>Are <strong>not written in English<\/strong> or are written in the form of English that the general population cannot seem to understand. Please ensure that you have <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/improve-proofreading\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">proofread your post<\/a> before submitting it.<\/li>\n<li>Contain elements that are <strong>against our <\/strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hongkiat.com\/blog\/publishing-policy\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>publishing policy<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Are found to be <strong>plagiarized, copied, or spun<\/strong> from another source. We respect the work of writers who make their trade through writing and reserve the right not to publish a compromised post.<\/li>\n<li>Are <strong>explicitly written to market or sell<\/strong> a product, tool, service, or app affiliated with the writer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Are not submissions at all<\/strong>. Please do not use the submissions link to enquire about how else to improve your chances of being published. We\u2019ve already shared all our secrets with you. Be brave and send it in.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We reserve the right and final decision to reject a submission if the post is found to have problems that make it unsuitable for publication.<\/p>\n<h3>Remember to run a format check<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Do <strong>submit posts in plaintext, HTML or DOC<\/strong> (or equivalent forms) format.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the post is <strong>submitted with a full title<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>All <strong>images must be in JPG format<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>All <strong>images used must carry a credit line<\/strong> that links directly to their source page, not only the source website.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that images used in your submission have their <strong>copyright sorted<\/strong> out or are <strong>free to use.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Please ensure that image files are named in <strong>lowercase<\/strong>, and <strong>hyphenated<\/strong> (instead of underscored or with spaces) like this: <strong>tool-name.jpg<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Zip all image files<\/strong> in a folder named IMAGES.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>images should be in the highest possible resolution<\/strong> to ensure they do not appear blurry when published.<\/li>\n<li>Do <strong>supply us with your author\u2019s bio<\/strong>, which will appear with your published post. An author\u2019s picture is not necessary for guest posts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Submit your post<\/h2>\n<p>Before you submit, know that due to the number of posts we receive, we may not be able to reply to every submission.
