I’m surprised to see DataPacket in the list, only because I thought they (aka Brian) would be out of business by now.

If you want to see some of the b.s. some of us former clients have gone through, check out this link http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=403691 where I have posted my issues that I have had with them (the best part is page 3), and yes, my posts are under the same name as here.

Also, after reading that, go here http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=453640&highlight=datapacket+pressrelease and read post #14, which is a copy of his “fraud scams abuse” letter.

I think as consumers we should warn each other about bad webhosting companies. The top of my list is Webhostasp.com. They claim the free 30 day trial period but the server doesn’t work properly. When you ask webhostasp.com they will give you useless advice to make time pass and after the 30 days, they will no longer answer your questions. I have asked for a refund since they cannot solve the problem but they will just answer back telling you “No Refunds”. Then they continue to ignore emails. I am in the process to put a complaint to all any anything related companies to Webhostasp.com including their domain registrar, Better Business Bureau, their online merchant. I will list this on all forums possible so that I warn people about this fraudulent company. I have also checked other companies hosted on this server and many are all illegal run websites such as gambling, viagra and junk mail spammers. If I knew this before I would have stayed miles away from this illegal hosting company.

You are welcome to write me an email if you are a victim or would like to make a class action suit against Webhostasp.com. Pls email: cashzzz@hotmail.com.

Here is the info in case you are also a victim:

We had hosted our site with webhostasp in july 2006 for one year. we had selected webhostasp for their low cost and good features. With in one month of hosting of my site, the server has crashed. they said that to compensate the lost data of my site, they are going extend my site on another year with out charging. After one year they automatically renewed my site and they charged from credit card. we sent several mails regarding the refund of amount charged. they said they are going to refund. with repeated mails also they didn’t refund my amount and they stopped responding to my mail. We also stopped sending mails regarding refund. Suddenly from last one month all the mails of my domain has stopped. we cannot send are recieve mails from my site and even i cannot login with my postmer account. Regarding this we sent several mails, they didn’t reply for a single mail. Now we cannot even login to our control panel. Every thing is stopped now. can any one help me in this regards.

I am realy pissed up with these folks and I thaink that they are simply ripoffs. Do yo know who I can report them to?

If you still have access to your client area, transfer your domain out of there to another hosting comapny. After this you can point the nameservers to your new hosting you must have procured. Will you let me know your site’s domain name or URL? If there is something I can do, then we’ll know. Hope this does a little?

    http://www.bodhost.co.uk

We have a VPS server which keeps running our of memory because they don’t give the limit you paid for. Once that happen the server crash and stay offline untill I request on technical support for restart it.

That’s the only thing the technical guys know, restart the server…

Once we complained proving our memory usages with detailled stadistics they started blaiming their hardware node and didn’t solve anything.

Don’t get scammed by those people, we’re currently looking for another provider but looking on forums for opinions this time….

I believe that you can also add HostPapa.com to the above list. They have horrible customer service (helpline almost always goes to voicemail and their online chat gets disconnected when you ask them tough questions).

You can find many threads online about the overcharging by HostPapa. I wish I had read those comments before I signed up with them. Beware of Host papa!!

I’m not sure one of the following sites got 520 Bad Reviews, they’re way shadier than that. Please add priorityonehost.com, alpha1hosting.com, and anywherehost.com: they’re all the same entity.

There servers were up most of the time: no problems there, but they are condescending as&*oles who, when I decided to leave, billed me for $2300, claiming that I violated a contract.

In every conversation I had with them, they insulted someone. At first, when I called for support, they insulted other clients (though never by name), and, in the end, they threatened and insulted me.

Poor, unprofessional company…avoid all of their web entities at all costs. If you’re with them, good luck.

Instead of simply canceling or suspending your services 1&1 Internet aka http://www.1and1.com will send you to collections if your credit card is declined or expires. They will ruin your personal credit report. 1and1.com refuses to accept payment directly and claims there is nothing they can do. 1&1 has the worst customer service and would rather ruin someones credit for $30 than try to keep a customer who has paid them almost $1000! 1&1 has the worst business and poorest customer service and draconian collection tactics of any web hosting company.

Add NPSIS to your list of worst webhosts. They were good, once upon a time before they were sold, but now they are the worst of the worst? How bad are they?

1). No phone tech support. They *claim* that they are available weekdays (no weekends or evenings) 8 AM – 5:30 PM. When you can get through, you get a recording and then put on hold for all eternity. I tried calling them today and got alternating busy signals or messages that the number wasn’t available.

2). They transferred my website to another, even worse, hosting service called Tons of Websites without notification or permission. TOW doesn’t respond to anything.

3). I’ve been trying to access the control panel of my site, which NPSIS claims I can still do from their site. However, using the correct user name and password to access the C panel, which was verified by NPSIS, I get a message stating that the information is incorrect.

4). They have a live tech chat option on their site that never works. Meaning that you get no real-time help.

There are so many other things I can list, like the problems with billing that seem to crop up every six months or so. Website down time, rudeness/lack of knowledge by tech support during the rare times you do get through to them.

I’m putting the word out so that others don’t fall victim to this shoddy company. When Wachovia agrees with you and is working with you to get monies returned, you know it must be bad!

    Please check reviews for Webcreationuk.com

They are piling up, and the service is positively awful. They should, with out a doubt be in your bottom 13.

Some reviews are puzzling, and I’m worried they are planted by friends of employees, or fictitious entries made by the company. They bare no correlation to the current low standards of performance. For the sake of any new applicant from being drawn into this company, please investigate.

I tried them, their servers were experiencing a whole lot of downtime, although their support was poor, they were very nice people. It seems understaffed. Wana get screwed Visit Jason Farris at JCSHosting.ca in New Brunswick Canada, Jason if you read this I suggest you get a real good LAWYER!

I run a small business, and relied heavily on the assurances of a webhosting company on the South Shore of Montreal called
    Mediaweb.
We filled out a contract, the agreed-upon price was $3,000,
which for a small business is a lot of money. And the problems
started right away. This was to cover until December 1st, 09.
It was also supposed to guarantee me a certain amount of
    paper clicks, and Google exposure.
If you enter our company name, it appears on Page 7.
First, she left without leaving a copy of the contract, which I must admit I didn’t ask for. But before any progress was being made
or before being shown anything, they kept insisting on the
next installment. It took them 6 weeks to get it finished.
Oh it looks OK, but I’ve asked how to access it, and they never
answer. Then the rep quit, and they couldn’t find the contract,
and because we’re located in Quebec, our site is bilingual. Well
    their direct translations were brutal.
We ended up doing our own translations. Finally, I get a bill
mid-September, for an annual renewal fee of $450!!!!
FOR WEB HOSTING? I don’t think so. So I advised them that I was cancelling with them and asked for all the ftp information
and a backup disc. They shut down the site.
I spoke to the other rep, who begrudges the owner’s behavior but can’t do anything. And unless I pay a $40 webhosting fee
to cover November (remember…we’re supposed to be
covered until December 1st), they won’t give us anything.
    Stay away from the charletons….

I have been with HostDime for years (10+ I believe) with a reseller account and a dedicated server, but I am packin’ my bags and headin’ for the hills! They were great for years, but I seriously think they’re falling apart at the seams. I just experienced a MAJOR hack job (30+ sites defaced) and HD played dumb and said it was all on my end. I tracked down the hacker myself, found his hits listed on a hacker brag site (check it out for yourself at: http://www.zone-h.org/archive/defacer=X-net) which proves he hacked dozens of other HD accounts and they STILL talked in circles and said my computer was the culprit. I even removed my current virus program, installed the one they recommended, sent them a screenshot of a virus-free scan report and they STILL said it was my fault. I got shuffled from one tech to another and–in the end–they did nothing more than provided back-ups for about 1/3 of the hacked sites. What about the other 2/3′rds? Well, the only back-up they had for those… wanna guess? Yep… were the hacked versions. What good is 10 years of great service if they can’t come through when you really need them? As for me? I won’t trust them with my accounts another day. BUYER BEWARE!

APLUS.NET Junk Puts the Crap Champs Down for the Count!

I simply registered a domain using their domain plus service because of the free URL and e-mail forwarding (Big mistake). After I registered I waited for my registration confirmation e-mail and yes I did receive it 1 hour later. After that I went in and tried to figure out how to setup my URL forwarding and their website was so poorly laid out it took me about 30 minutes to find the form. I filled it in and it said it would take up to 3 hours to process so I waited a day just to be safe. Well a day later, nothing. 2 days later, nothing. Then I decided to e-mail them, no repsonse after a week. I e-mailed them again, no response after a week. This continued for another 13 e-mails with no repsonse. Suddenly one day I get a reply from them, BUT it was to inform me that I couldn’t take advantage of the free URL or E-mail forwarding because I did not register for it within 20 minutes of registering the domain! At that point I said forget it, I had already wasted $20 and decided to accept my losses and move on. I found a totally free URL and E-mail forwarding service called MyDomain.com and I reccomend them to everyone now, no banners or ads. YOu know whats really sad after all this? MyDomain.com, the company that wasn’t making any money from me responded to my e-mails within 2 hours and were more helpful than the horrible support of Aplus.net. Avoid! Beware!

You should add Hammer Hosting and OurWeb dot net, owner Bil Banks and his assistant Drew to this list a 6 month Payment gave me 6 days of terrible service, support, and then no service or support. Used threats and intimidation to try to prevent me from filing a complaint with PayPal which we all know is utterly useless in itself.

Pay for your hosting with a Credit Card, at least then you can do a charge back through your bank. I learned the hard way.and am out the money I paid.
