Matt of netbusinessblog wrote how he get 283K readers in 1 day in one of his previous blog entry. Topic is so catchy that I quickly run through the guide but end up learning something else; something more interesting although feeling a bit conned by the topic :)
What is FeedBurner Chiklet
A quickie for those who don’t know what is FeedBurner Chiklet. FeedBurner is a free online tool to manage your feeds. FeedBurner Chiklet is a dynamic image that enables you to show off how many readers currently subscribed to your blog/website.
What this trick does?
This tweak basically enables you to “ripped” other site’s FeedBurner Chiklet image, changed it and use it for your site. That’s right, that is faking other people’s number of readers and I strongly suggest that you learn it for the sake of the knowledge but not to impress others.
Let’s tweak!
Find yourself a target. TechCrunch’s 283K readers will do you proud. Get the URL of the Chiklet image to start the tweak.
- Firefox - Right Click on image -> Copy Image Location
- Internet Explorer - Right Click -> Properties -> Copy Address (URL)

Your URL should look something similar to the image above. First hex code changes the background color and second hex code changes the text color.
Adding “&label=Fans” replace default Readers to Fans.
Adding “&anim=1” it will animate the text, simple change the “1″ to “0″ to disable animation.
Tweaked! Let’s display it on website
<a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/YourBlog"> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/TechCrunch?bg=ffcc00&fg=000000&anim=0" height="26″ width="88″ style="border:0″ alt="" /> </a>
Paste the codes (above) on where you want Feedburner Chiklet to display. Make sure:
- Line 1: Change the URL to your actual Feedburner URL
- Line 2: Replace it with the image HTML that you’ve tweaked

Nice one…
I found a hack to really manipulate your feedburner readers, without using someone else’s chicklet.
