Duncan Riley of TechCrunch today blog about how unsatisfied Nuffnang publishers are over the $1 administration charges when you withdraw your earnings. The entry also brought up Advertlets, but they got the name wrong, spelling it Adverlets instead of Advertlets. I guess Josh of Advertlets won’t mind as long as it brings him the traffics as well as the attentions.
$1 administrative charges
Putranet reported that during this withdrawal with Nuffnang, he was charged $1 by the company to cover postage, etc expenses.
Today I decided to cash out the money and found out Nuffnang had decided to impose a SGD$1 transaction fee for all cash outs. They need our SGD$1 to pay for the postage, cheques, materials, and handling cost. How can they do this to us?
Nuffnang could be the first ad network that charge publishers before withdrawal. $1 may not be much, but enough to pissed some publishers (nuffnanger) off. I’m not really sure about the strategy behind it, but rich startups like Nuffnang charging administrative fees to cover some expenses? Didn’t sound too right for me.
I’m also surprised that there are defamation sites out there like why-nuffnang-will-fail.blogspot.com dedicated for the ad network. I must have been away from local ads network for a long while.
Duncan could be right?
First, Singapore and Malaysia is really small, comparing to the international market these ad network are located at. It is foolish to be fighting trying to get on top of each other. Fanboys should also stop defaming any ad network to support their local fav. It is really a waste of time.
And Duncan is right,
All the money Nuffnang has spent on PR has meant nothing in the face of bloggers angry over a small administrative charge.

Perhaps this is the right time for Nuffnang to launch Nuffnang 2.0 as to tackle the PR backlash?
Off-topic: At the time of writing, Advertlets is one of the top searches over Technorati.
