Zencart and OScommerce are NOT user friendly for beginners. I tried them both, got stuck at how to do an add on for multiple images, and gave up. I uninstalled both after total frustration.

But youshould have added Shopify as an awesome hosted option and Big Cartel which is another hosted solution and ideal for artists and other creatives selling their wares.

Alot of people have been harping that Magento is “best”. I can tell you that in my experience…and my wife’s site is running on Magento….that unless you are prepared to become a programmer (or at least know code to a degree)…it is a PITA. Also when you need a developer to integrate features…like build an extension, the way the data is parsed out among the various xml and phtml files…you can get FRUSTRATED unless you know code.

I also would tell you that speed is an issue, even if you have a good server setup…the way the data is parsed, it just is a strain on the entire system.

Magento came very highly recommended to me….I found it very disappointing. It is a framework and should be sold as such more than an easy shopping cart solution.
