Local newspaper The New Strait Times Online published 2 articles today that really interest me (Thanks Chelva for the heads up).

It talks about successful making money online bloggers, and Chow Kum Hor of NST either did a good research on both SAMSUL Zamzuri Abu Bakar and Liew Cheon Fong (LiewCF) or probably have both of them interviewed.

Samsul and LiewCF

Seriously before today, I really haven heard of Samsul. A little digging then tells me he owns osx-e.com, szab web directory, and other directories. According to NST, Samsul is earning five figures salary monthly from blogging with about 15 sites/blogs in total. Have you ever imagine blogging can make you that much?

LiewCF is nonetheless the famous Malaysian tech blogger, a friend also a mentor of mine. Liew is also definitely making five figures revenue from internet monthly. During the Malaysia Together Gather few months back, he told me he makes more than $50/day in Google AdSense. Imagine that.

What they both have in common?

Both Samsul and LiewCF put few good years’ effort into their blogs, started off blogging as a hobby/interest. Money making online only comes in at later stage. See the thing is, most of us are thrown with too many stories of successful money making online and started to develop an idea that blogging and make money is easy. Let me reassure you that if you start off a blog with pure intention just to make money out of it, eventually you will not succeed. Who’s interested in a few months old blog filled with ads, paid post and little quality contents anyway?

Who else?

What Chow fails or perhaps have not mentioned is that there are actually more bloggers out there, quietly enjoying some good 3.45 currency exchange rates, making good bucks every month. Where’s Paul Tan, an automotive blogger with $70/day in Google AdSense? Where is Chan Lilian, one of the top earners in PayPerPost? Where is MenJ? Pro-blogger that proudly reviewed his monthly online revenue. Where is Hongkiat? I’m just joking :-) And Kahsoon too, although the blog looks dead, but I’m pretty sure the Google AdSense and BlogAds checks still comes every month.

Is it getting easier to make money online?

Samsul used 6 months to reach his first $100 in AdSense, LiewCF used 3 months if I’m not mistaken. I used 18 days :-P Simply because I sucked all information Liew can teach me. With all the information pro bloggers are throwing back into the blogosphere, I’m not surprise someone come up to me and say :

‘Check this out, ‘First $100 in Adsense in 9 days, cool huh.‘

I guess we learn and share, that’s what makes the blogoshere stronger each day.
