If you are desperately looking forward to get an iPhone before they reach Asia, alternative way like buying iPhone from United States and unlock it’s SIM with software has probably crossed your mind. It might sound risky because if you fail to unlock, your iPhone might end up serving you as a iPod Touch.

Caker showed me a Singaporean site name WhyMobile where these guys are selling iPhones in Singaporean currency. I believe they either have iPhone unlock themselves and resell (are you allow to do this?) or they probably have deals going on with Apple (which I highly doubt it). iPhones over at WhyMobile are selling at $860.00/4GB and $1300.00/8GB. According to WhyMobile, you get rebate if you sign up a plan with the local telco or trade in a phone in return.

Assume this unlock and resell is legal, then its good news for those who want to own a piece of this gadget because the official Apple ships into Asia. As much as I want to get an iPhone, I’ll probably wait for the official launch. FYI Steve Job announced that they will start shipping iPhone with 3G next year.
