As much as we loved our iPod, undeniable that the battery life span still suck. My Mini was only 1 year old and I’m noticing the battery is slowly wearing out. A fully charged iPod left idle for few days will not work anymore and they need to be recharged again.
Rick of Lifehacker shares a website, showing how you can get your iPod battery changed, D.I.Y; saving you all the professional cost, goodness knows how much they will charge. Buy your own battery, view the tutorial and change yourself. Video as follow, credit goes to ipodhowtovideo.com
That’s not even close to what ipodhowtovideo.com has got to offer. See more video tutorials on
- LCD replacement
- Hard drive replacement
- Logic board replacement
- Clickwheel replacement
iPod Video, Mini, Nano are all covered.

Dang. This video is ok, but I was able to swap out my ipod mini battery using a kit from http://www.ipodjuice.com – it was a good price and the instructions warn you about all sorts of things this clips fails to mention. You might want to get a kit there in addition to using this video as a reference.

gotta agree with chuckster: ipodjuice is good. Used them for my IPOD mini and a 3rd gen and both work better than when i first bought ‘em.
