How to replace default Leopard Scrollbar

leopard scrollbar

Changing your Mac OS X Leopard’s scrollbar has never been easier, it involves the changing of Extras.rsrc file (PPC Mac) / Extras2.rsrc (Mac Intel). Applefish-fr of MacThemes came out with a new scrollbar design that changes your current default scrollbar to look like the deem grayish iTunes scrollbar.

How to replace default scrollbar with the iTunes alike

  1. Download the Extras.rsrc file
  2. If you are on Mac PPC, use Extras.rsrc, else use Extras2.rsrc. Copy the file into

    /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/
    Frameworks/HIToolbox.framework/Versions/A/Resources/

  3. Done!

Same here. I even did a “killall Finder” in the Terminal. Still nothing.

try deleting the extras file then moving the new one in.

with the authentication it refuses to replace it on my computer, but it will delete and move a new one in just fine.

if it worked a killall Finder should do the trick.

i’m on a PPC mac btw.

Go into the terminal and check file ownership and permissions. First, the file owner should be root and the group wheel. Next, have a look at the permissions. Looks like it should be 644, however there is a @ symbol at the end. What is with that?
