[Windows only] Most people have private files or folders on their computer which they want it to be invisible from the others. As we previously mentioned how you can hide files in Mac, we thought Windows users are not exceptional so here’s one free software to hide your files and folders for Windows. Free Hide Folder as the name suggest, is a freeware that helps you to keep your personal data away from others and protect your files avoiding them to be being modified, seen or erased by other users. A hidden folder can even be protected by a password that you can change or remove at any time.

Free Hide Folder is fairly easy to use. Upon install, you can hide folders simply with a few mouse clicks. Firstly, run Free Hide Folder. Then, browse and select the folder you want to hide, and click “Hide Folder button” to hide folders. A password is required in order to run Free Hide Folder. Therefore, 1 more layer is added to shield your folder.

Hmm, I don’t think this works on Vista, does it?
ReplyWing Loon May 19th, 2008
Ramy, why it will not work? I can’t try…don’t have Vista, :D
ReplyRamy May 19th, 2008
I’ll try it. Their website doesn’t say it works on Vista, and there was another tweak to hide folders (which was actually made for XP), but didn’t work on Vista. After hiding a folder, you couldn’t delete it anymore (so I still got it, lol).
But, I think it’s worth trying it.

So, 3 minutes later: It works. But how to password-protect it?
ReplyWhen I click on password, it only let’s me change the password of the program itself.

I’ve used this one too. Probably one of the most easiest tool to hide all your err… secret files. Lol.

@Ramy: Hidden folders are password protected automatically because in order to run the program, a password is needed.
ReplyFachia May 19th, 2008
I think it is better to use Folder Lock or Folder Guard since they are more secure.

@Fachia: Folder Lock& Folder Guard are not free softwares.
@AMG: That type of files must be hidden nicely. :D

Use TrueCrypt — it should hide your folder very well (password protectect — can be more than 1 layers). Most of all, it’s free & it can hide BIG big folder. Tech, it create another drive on your computer (when you type in the correct ps). Read the instruction for 30 min or more for better understand it. Once you do…it’s kid play (really really easy). Very good software. People can’t see your folder – because they can’t see the drive (ex: (K:) ). And they can’t see the drive, till they find the main file, use the right software & open your correct ps. Even if they be able to see your hidden files, they wouldn’t know you have other “invisible” files in your hidden files…etc. You can add & delete like any normal files…which is good.
