I used TrueCrypt but have now switched to WinEncrypt, it’s much simpler to use (also I got it for free with my drive). I can’t bother messing around with the hundreds of options Truecrypt has.

I think they have a free version too.

@Kendra: I guess you can lose files on any USB disk if you don’t eject properly, that’s got nothing to do with WE or TC.

I use Rohos Mini – free encryption utility, though it supports only Windows for Mac users it’s useless.

I used TrueCrypt but it was too complex for me. I struggled with TC for a while, but I found a simpler simpler solution to encrypt USB drives which lets me work the way I want, without exposing me to too much complexity.
