When I was logging into my Google AdSense account, I noticed the favicon did not look quite the same. Instead of the previous capital ‘G’ in ‘G’oogle, they now used the ‘g’ of Goo’g'le. At first I thought I end up in some kinda phishing site or it’s a web browser cache, but then I soon found out that even Google SERP pages are using the same favicon.

Love the old icon better.

I too, like the old one better. The gradient at the bottom of the ‘g’ looks a bit weird to me.

Yes. I saw it two days ago. Of course, the old one is better. The new G look like 8. Don’t you all think so??

G is replaced by g. Erm, any meaning behind it?

Is this part of something bigger?

Well, new is not always better than old. ‘g’ favicon looks different and do not remind me about google at all. I’ll bet this is a joke OR a new face of big G ;)

Google maybe trying to have trade mark or brand change and testing it with favicon.
ReplyI annoys me at first, but I think I’ll get used to it after few days.

Here is the official response from a Google spokesperson:
“We recognized there was a need for a Google icon that would better work across multiple applications including web, mobile and client applications. We felt the small ‘g’ had many of the characteristics that best represent our brand: it’s simple, playful, and unique. We will be looking to improve and enhance this icon as we move forward.”

‘playful’? I didn’t know a simple letter ‘g’ can have so many characteristics :-)
