After all the rumors about Google’s gPhone, the internet giant today announced that they are not coming out with a new phone, but a open source linux based mobile phone platform call Android.

Android, a joined development of Open Handset Alliance will release its Software Development Kit (SDK) on the 12th of November for developers to test and build cool mobile applications. You probably will not see a mobile phone running Android until next year. Wonder which will be the first phone that supports Android.

Now watch the Android introduction video from its developers.

Wow, that sounds nice. I remember few year ago Motorola produced some smartfone with Linux based OS on board but no body cared except some geeks. I hope that new platform will allow us to fit mobiles exactly as we want.

This could be a totally new revolution to mobile applications. When thing goes open source, you will expect large community of developers, especially when its a google product :-)
